Physician Assistant / Urgent Care / Massachusetts / Locum Tenens / Urgent Care Family Physician Assi
SUMMARY:
This position is primarily responsible for assisting in examination and treatment of patient.
Provider must have an active, unrestricted license in the state of MA as a PA-C.
Provider must have a DEA and MCSR at the time of application.
Provider must be willing to obtain DOT certification.
Provider must have and up to date ACLS and PALS certification at the time of application.
Full time position is 36-42 hours/week and includes full time benefits package including an UpToDate membership.
$75-$110 rate of hourly compensation for PA.
Excellent training and clinical decision support from a Veteran Clinical Leadership team that provides bi-weekly cased based education and focuses on evidence-based medicine.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

LOCATIONS:
Ten clinics in the Boston Metro Area: Attleboro, Back Bay, Bedford, Burlington, Chestnut Hill, Franklin, Medford, North Waltham, South Waltham, and Stoneham.
TEAM PLAYER:
· Arrive each day prepared to work at your appointed time
· Be prepared to leave at the end of the day only after patient care is completed.
· Attend staff meetings and offer suggestions. Listen to others with an open mind.
· Offer to help during down time.
· Reviews patient file/record, including allergies, problems, medications, and immunization status.
· Elicits and records information about patient's medical history.
· Examines patients for symptoms or physical information.
· Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition.
· Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examination, and diagnoses condition of patient.
· Administers or prescribes treatments.
· Determines and prescribes medication, dosage, and schedule given the patient's condition and allergies.
· Discusses any possible side effects to medication or immunization with patient.
· Utilize online resources to perform travel consultations.
· Be willing to obtain DOT medical examiner certification via online training and pass official examination.
· Be willing to learn and utilize EMR and tablet/laptop technology at the bedside.
· Prescribes and administers vaccinations to immunize patient from communicable diseases.
· Promotes health by advising patients about diet, hygiene, and methods for prevention of disease.
· Performs surgical procedures commensurate with surgical competency.
· Refers patients to primary care physicians or medical specialist for consultant services when necessary for patient's well-being.
· Documents the patient's visit including medical history, physical exam, diagnoses, and plan of action.
· Follows up with patient regarding progress in high risk or emergency cases.
· Daily follow up on laboratory tests and X-Rays.
· Conducts physical examinations to provide information needed for admission to school, consideration for jobs, or eligibility for insurance coverage.

· Current CPR certification
· Understanding of the concepts of universal precautions, HIPAA and OSHA

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft office and the internet.

? Must be able to work outside of regular business hours which may include evenings and weekends to meet customer requirements.
? Travels as necessary to meet operational needs.
? Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
? Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human
injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.
