Become a Volunteer Tutor

If you would like to help adult learners improve their reading, writing and conversational English skills please join us for our Volunteer Orientation to learn about becoming a Basic Reading or ESOL Tutor. Tutors must have a High School diploma, attend an orientation session and complete our 18-hour training. No teaching experience is required, but volunteers should be patient and sensitive to the needs of adult learners. Tutors meet with students 2 hours per week, and we ask for a one-year commitment. Orientations & TrainingsWe have orientation sessions scheduled nearly every month. Our next orientation will be Wednesday February 25, 2026 at 6:30p.m. at the library. Potential volunteers who have attended an orientation are eligible to participate in a LV Tutor Training. Our next LV Tutor Training, which will be held in person at the library, will be held in late spring. Please call the office for details (781-769-4599.)
