Join Visa and do work that matters — to you, to your community, and to the world.Progress starts with you.Job DescriptionThe News Director is responsible for turning editorial direction into on‑the‑ground delivery.This role runs the newsroom as a high‑performing editorial operation, making sure that the stories Visa commits to are delivered clearly, credibly, and on time, and that long‑term narrative intent lands effectively in the moment.The News Director runs the Visa newsroom engine, owning editorial delivery – ensuring Visa’s storytelling shows up consistently, coherently, and at quality across channels internally and externally in the moments that matter.Key ResponsibilitiesEditorial Delivery & Short‑Term PlanningOwn the newsroom’s day‑to‑day editorial delivery.Translate editorial direction from the Editor‑in‑Chief into concrete story plans, assignments, approaches and formatsMaintain a clear view of what is publishing today, what is in progress, what is at riskMake real‑time editorial calls to keep the newsroom moving without sacrificing standards.Story Orchestration Across ChannelsThe News Director defines the primary format and storytelling device as well as supporting expressions of a story.They will make sure stories tie together across channels and internally and externally; and complement and advance other ongoing storytelling.Work closely with Social, Design, and Internal channel owners to ensure effective execution.Editorial Calendar & Workflow ManagementOwn the rolling internal and external editorial calendar (near‑term horizon).Balance capacity across Newsroom‑led stories, campaign‑supported moments, and business‑originated content requiring editorial shapingIdentify delivery pressure points early and raise them with the Editor‑in‑Chief.Run weekly newsroom planning and daily editorial stand‑ups.Editorial Quality & Standards in PracticeApply and enforce editorial standards in the daily workflow.Act as the senior editor sending work back for revision when needed.Coach writers, designers, and contributors to meet newsroom standards.Make sure stories reflect editorial intent even when timelines or stakeholders are challenging.Partnership with Campaigns & Internal LeadsWork with the Campaigns Director to:Integrate campaign‑led moments into the newsroom delivery planEnsure campaigns land in ways that reinforce editorial directionCo-ordinate with Internal Editorial leads to ensure:Internal and external stories are aligned in timing and toneInternal channels reinforce newsroom outputThis is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.QualificationsBasic Qualifications:10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhDPreferred Qualifications:12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhDStrong editing and storytelling background across digital and multimedia formats.Experience working in matrixed organizations with multiple competing priorities.Experience working with senior stakeholders and shaping complex narratives.Experience operating at a senior level within a highly matrixed, global organization.Strong executive presence with the ability to counsel senior leaders and operate as a trusted partner.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with sharp editorial instincts.High-level of professional integrity and confidentiality.Creative, positive, collaborative, and high-energy individual with an ability to execute.Comfortable taking ownership and driving the team forward on a daily basis.Mix of agency and in-house experience strongly preferred.U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for this position is 153,600 to 245,900 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
