Learn more about our work, clients, and why we’ve been a pillar in the event and sign industry for over 30 years at Big Visual Group.Under the direction of the Design Manager, the Environmental Graphic Designer collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of sales, designers, fabricators, and installers on environmental design projects that enhance human experiences, create engaging and inviting environments, and thoughtfully solve client challenges within physical spaces. This role requires a highly proactive, creative, and experienced individual who can independently manage projects from concept through final output while maintaining deadlines, quality standards, and production accuracy. In addition, this role contributes to the continued growth of our environmental design capabilities through innovation, collaboration, and technical expertise.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related fieldMinimum of five (5) years of professional design experience, with at least three (3) years in an environmental graphic design specific roleStrong portfolio showcasing environmental graphic design projects including signage, wayfinding, branded environments, exhibits, or experiential graphicsProficiency in Adobe Creative SuiteExperience with 3D software for project engineering and renderingBroad understanding of print production processes, fabrication methods, finishing techniques, and file preparation standardsExperience designing tactile signage, braille, and implementing universal design principles for accessibilityStrong understanding of typography, visual communication, and information hierarchy within physical environmentsExcellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities simultaneouslyStrong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to present ideas, issues, and solutions clearly to both clients and team membersSelf-motivated, proactive, and adaptable with a strong attention to detailPositive, dependable, and collaborative team player who builds strong working relationshipsPunctual with flexibility to work additional hours as neededResponsibilitiesExecute and manage environmental graphic design projects from concept through final production and installation consultation while ensuring deadlines and quality standards are metConceptualize and create effective, production-ready designs for interior and exterior wayfinding systems, ADA signage programs, branded environments, exhibits, and environmental graphicsCollaborate with sales, design, and production teams to ensure solutions align with client goals, budgets, timelines, and fabrication capabilitiesPrepare accurate production-ready files, scaled layouts, and documentation for print and fabricationAssist in overseeing the end-to-end production process from design approval through fabrication and installation supportManage multiple projects simultaneously while effectively tracking time, budgets, and resource allocationEnsure all deliverables align with client brand standards and maintain high levels of accuracy, consistency, and qualityReview and proof materials prior to production while troubleshooting design and production challenges as they ariseStay current on industry trends, fabrication technologies, materials, and environmental graphic design best practicesRecommend and help implement new tools, workflows, and processes that improve team efficiency and creative capabilitiesAdditional experience that would be great:Exposure to architectural and interior design workflows, philosophy, and practicesKnowledge of sustainable materials and environmentally conscious production practicesUnderstanding of common building codes and regulationsUnderstanding and adherence to ADA standards and accessibility requirementsSketching, rendering, or conceptual presentation skillsExperience collaborating on experiential, architectural, or large-scale branded environmentsShare your passions with us!
