JOB TITLE:          Director of Human ResourcesDEPARTMENT:     Human Resources  REPORTS TO:       Chief Operating OfficerPOSITION SUMMARY:The Director of Human Resources is responsible for all Human Resources policies and programs covering employment, payroll, compensation, benefits, performance management, employee relations, recruiting and retention, and compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws. In addition, the Director of Human Resources is responsible for building a positive internal culture among all staff and musicians.REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:·      Aligns HR policies and programs with the ISO’s strategic plan.·      Provides leadership to the Human Resources Generalist & Wellness Advocate responsible for all payroll & benefits administration.·      Oversees and approves all areas of payroll including bi-weekly payrolls, annual W-2’s, benefits deductions, and taxes.·      Manages and coordinates third party and vendor relationships including benefit advisors, 403b and Pension plan administrators, and healthcare providers.·      Builds a positive work culture through effective communication, employee recognition, and cross-functional collaborations.·      Coordinates necessary work authorization and visa applications between employee and the ISO’s legal counsel.·      Provides counsel and support to other department heads, directors, and staff regarding employment issues for all staff and musicians.·      Manages talent acquisition including job posting, recruitment, screening, and interviewing skill development to ensure equal opportunity, accessible and safe workplace and assures compliance with employment regulations.·      Initiates planning and assists with the development of effective compensation packages for staff employees. Administers ongoing compensation plan for the staff and new hire offers.·      Manages and serves as the point of contact for all HR audits. ·      Works with external legal counsel as necessary for employment-related issues.·      Administers the annual and mid-year performance review process, ensuring the elements being reviewed align properly to core values and strategic goals.·      Plans and oversees administration of employee benefit plans for staff and musicians including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability.·      Participates in the collective bargaining process for areas of HR responsibility.·      Manages all retirement plans for staff and musicians including the 403(b) plan and pension as well as all compliance and the annual 5500 filings.·      Prepares, monitors, and manages the HR Budget.·      Oversees the HR information and payroll system (currently Paylocity).·      Continually builds and improves the wellness program to create a culture of wellness and overall positive relationships with staff and musicians through effective programming.·      Ensures all claims involving worker’s compensation and unemployment insurance are effectively reviewed and managed. Coordinates OSHA reporting and compliance efforts.·      Oversees annual summer internship program ensuring a positive and productive experience for all.·      Maintains effective, current, and confidential personnel files·      Performs other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS: ·      B.A./B.S. in Human Resources or related field of study.·      Minimum of 5 years of human resource management and supervisory experience.·      Proven knowledge of compensation, benefits, employee relations, training, recruitment and statutory requirements for employers.·      Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills required. ·      Strong technical skills essential and familiarity with HR software (preferably Paylocity). ·      Professional HR certifications desirable including SPHR and CEBS.INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:INTERNAL: Frequent contact with all levels of staff and musicians.EXTERNAL: Frequent contact with patrons, Board, donors, sponsors, and industry professionals. OUR MISSIONThe ISO inspires and unites our community through our music.OUR VISIONThe ISO sets new standards as a dynamic leader in the arts, serving our community by creating innovative, engaging, and accessible musical and educational experiences.OUR VALUESInspiration: We strive to offer inspiring musical and educational experiences for everyone.Unity: We believe that collaboration makes us stronger.Integrity: We endeavor to instill a culture where everyone is treated with trust and respect.Stewardship: We are entrusted with sustaining a treasured community resource and are committed to its success..The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
