College: Louisiana Delta Community CollegeDepartment: Adult EducationType of Appointment: Part time - TemporaryDuties and Responsibilities:Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Establish a positive and trusting relationship with studentsFoster student accountability, self-advocacy, self-awareness, and critical thinking skillsResponsible for teaching ESL classes using instructional methods geared towards the adult learner with English as a Second Language in a classroom settingFollow all policies set forth by administration to measure and document student educational gains, attendance, and attainment of goals. Keep daily attendance records and progress reports. Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date recordsAdhere to regulations set forth regarding confidentiality of student records.Assures that students who qualify are pre- and post-tested as needed. Assess program students using the TABE and TABE CLAS-E tests as dictated by Adult Education Program policy.Create a classroom environment that is conductive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the studentsParticipate and manage registration, testing, and scheduling eventsPromote participation of ESL students in all aspects of Adult Education programmingFacilitate ESL students towards high-school equivalency testMaintain clean and professional classroom environmentRequired Education:An Associate degree or higherOne year experience in ESLStrong communication skills, including both written and oral, with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of personalitiesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:A Bachelor's degreeThree (3) years teaching experienceBilingualBenefits: As a member of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, Louisiana Delta Community College has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
