Senior Software Engineer, CI/CD Platform

IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions of people globally, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Lifecycle team and help maintain the pipelines and deployment systems that power containerized applications across IXL brands. The team is focused on automation, reliability, and developer productivity, helping brand engineering teams ship features quickly and safely. This role will be a key contributor to high-priority initiatives such as building reusable CI and deployment workflows, advancing automated testing strategies, and enabling smooth onboarding of new products onto our unified delivery systems. Because these systems support multiple brands and engineering organizations, the role is highly dynamic — requiring collaboration across diverse teams and cultures, adapting to different ways of working, and helping to drive alignment as we extend our shared platforms more broadly.This position requires you to be in our San Mateo, CA, headquarters office.WHAT YOU'LL BE DOINGDesign, build, and maintain software delivery pipelines for containerized applicationsDevelop systems for artifact build and push, application validation, and automated deploymentCreate and support dynamic test environments and database-aware testing strategiesPartner with brand engineering teams to ensure smooth, reliable releasesCollaborate on unifying CI and deployment workflows across repositories and brandsProvide support and troubleshooting for build and deployment pipelinesContribute to developer productivity by improving reliability and reducing friction in release processesWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FORBachelor's or advanced degree in computer science/engineering or a related discipline6+ years of professional experience with technical infrastructure and software engineeringStrong programming skills in at least one object-oriented language (Java, C++, etc.) and one scripting language (Python, Bash, etc.)Experience building reusable CI and deployment systems (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar)Hands-on experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)Experience managing cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across the stackEffective collaborator with excellent communication skillsEAS/Expo or mobile release experience is a plusPassion for building reliable systems that empower developers and improve product deliveryThe base salary range for this full-time position is $130,000 to $200,000 + equity + benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
