Corporate Counsel

SUMMARYThe Corporate Counsel roles is an in-house, generalist position that will support a wide range of business needs for a global consumer goods company. Tasks include negotiating and drafting a wide range of commercial contracts, corporate governance, litigation support and other risk mitigation initiatives.The right individual will have 5-10 years of broad-based legal experience, commercially focused business acumen, self-sufficient legal skills and able to support a fast-paced, global business environment.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Serve as a business partner working cross-functionally to close commercial transactions, drive initiatives to increase revenue and margin and manage strategic projects and activities.• Responsible for a myriad of business contracts, including customer and vendor contracts, commercial lease agreements, international distribution agreements and supplier agreements.• Support corporate compliance and risk mitigation initiatives.• Assist with employment and HR legal issues.• Assist with management of commercial litigation and intellectual property.• Drive business simplification and operations improvements.• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE • 5-10 years of corporate in-house experience with a focus on commercial, intellectual property, compliance and generalist work. • Ability to review, process, prioritize, and draft a host of commercial contracts for various business segments in a fast-paced environment.• Experience with consumer products and/or retailer industry preferred.• Ability to work autonomously on a multiple of projects.• The individual must be able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professional demeanor, work well under pressure, and have a strong work ethic and an appropriate sense of urgency.EDUCATION • Juris Doctor from ABA approved law school.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, database management experience.• Strong business acumen and verbal and written communication skills.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS• License to practice law in the State of Georgia or State of Rhode Island preferred (required to be active license).• Will also consider qualified remote candidates.
