In Abbotts Electrophysiology (EP) business, were advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives. This role supports the Operations team within the Injection Molding Engineering group as afront-line manufacturing engineerwith a strong hands-on presence on the production floor. The individual will work closely with assemblers, technicians, and cross-functional partners totroubleshoot mechanical equipment and process issues , while also leading projects focused oncapital equipment, manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures . The role is critical to meeting daily production commitments while continuously improving productivity, quality, and operational robustness. What Youll Work On Front-Line Engineering Support Act as aday-to-day engineering partner to Operations , providing hands-on support for injection molding and assembly processes. Serve as the primary technical resource formechanical and equipment-related issues , including presses, automation, auxiliary equipment, and downstream processes. Troubleshoot complexprocess, tooling, and equipment failuresto minimize downtime and scrap. Manufacturing Process & Capital Equipment Leadership Lead projects involvingcapital equipment selection, specification, installation, validation, and ramp-up , including molding presses, automation, tooling, fixtures, and test equipment. Design, develop, and implementrobust manufacturing processesthat support both existing products and new product introductions. Coordinate thedesign, procurement, build, debug, and qualificationof tooling, machinery, and manufacturing fixtures. Process Validation & Quality Own and executeProcess FMEAsto proactively identify and mitigate manufacturing risks. LeadProcess Validations (IQ/OQ/PQ)to ensure compliance, repeatability, and sustained process capability. Conduct investigations intoSafety, Quality, and Manufacturing issues , document findings, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions. Continuous Improvement Improve product quality, labor efficiency, uptime, and throughput usingLean Manufacturing principles and data-driven problem solving . Driveprocess improvements and cost-reduction initiativeswhile maintaining high quality and regulatory standards. SupportDesign for Manufacturability (DFM)activities in partnership with Product Development to ensure smooth product launches and scalable manufacturing solutions. Key Attributes for Success Innovative, resourceful, and comfortable operating withminimal directionin a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strongmechanical aptitudewith the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment and process issues. Excellent organizational, communication, problem-solving, andteam leadership skills . Proven ability tocollaborate effectively across Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Product Development teams . Required Qualifications Bachelors degree inMechanical, Chemical, Biomedical, or related Engineering discipline , or equivalent technical experience. 24 years of manufacturing engineering experience , with hands-on exposure toinjection molding environments . Demonstrated experience withprocess validation (IQ/OQ/PQ)and regulated manufacturing standards. Strong background working withcapital equipment, tooling, and automated manufacturing systems . Solid analytical, problem-solving, andproject managementcapabilities. Demonstrated leadership ability in team-based environments; capable of influencing, driving change, and motivating peers. Willingness and ability to travel approximately10% , including international travel. Preferred Qualifications Injection molding or molding engineering experience , including process development, optimization, and troubleshooting. Experience with tooling design, mold troubleshooting, and molding process characterization. Prior experience supportingnew product introductions (NPI)in a regulated manufacturing environment.
