Board Member (Volunteer)

Thank you for your interest in becoming a board member with Tampa Bay Abortion Fund. This is an unpaid volunteer position. Responsibilities include a mandatory board meeting each month (usually a weekday evening) and approximately five to 10 hours of fund-related work per week. Some of this work is independent, and some is collaborative with TBAFund staff and fellow board members. Applicants may be asked to undergo a background check as part of the application process. Finance/Treasury — This person will collaborate with fellow board members, staff members, and TBAFund’s contracted bookkeeper to: Provide oversight and evaluation of the organizational budget, Design budgeting and funding structures, Manage employee payroll, Maintain bank accounts/Quickbooks, and Work with bookkeeper and Executive Director to pay taxes. Additional core responsibilities of TBAFund Board Members include: Governance – ensuring nonprofit legal compliance, stewarding organizational health and best practices, updating bylaws and board policies, recruiting new board members and volunteers, and creatively fostering anti-oppressive and collective leadership structures; Intake Management – manage intake staff and volunteers, train intake team and direct service staff and volunteers, provide budgeting outlines and intake duties, implement and maintain software for client services; Volunteer Management – train new volunteers, manage on-going volunteers, manage practical support volunteers, assist all volunteers in completing TBAFund’s mission; Movement Building and Community Engagement – participate in advocacy efforts to advance our strategic priorities, develop relationships with movement partners, and represent the organization at community/fundraising events; Fundraising – donor management, solicit individual/monthly donors, plan/attend fundraising events, maintain donor database, research new donor opportunities, contact new/on-going/prospective/past donors;
 Grant Writing & Reporting – report funding outcomes for grant agreements, train and manage grant team volunteers, write grant proposals and LOI’s, find and apply for new grant applications; Communications – draft emails, manage social media, update the website, manage media inquiries, and speak at events on behalf of TBAF; Administrative – check TBAFund’s physical mailbox, responding to TBAFund emails, meeting note-taking, utilizing our shared drive, and other tasks as necessary.
