**Must apply on Edjoin.org, using the following link in order to be considered for this position. https://www.edjoin.org/Home/JobPosting/1995480 Application Deadline: 9/15/24 DEFINITION Under the direction of the Administrative Director, Facilities, Maintenance, Operations and Transportation, perform journey-level plumbing work in the repair, installation and maintenance of institutional plumbing fixtures, systems, lines, heating, appliances and equipment. Performs related duties as required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Install and maintain general plumbing and irrigation systems, and repair existing systems. Diagnoses and repairs plumbing and/or irrigation systems and equipment. Researches, engineers and designs irrigation and/or plumbing systems and equipment. Repair or replace valves, gaskets, tubing and pipes; cut, bend, fuse, and join tubing and pipes. Install water piping, sewer mains and laterals; repair and replace pipes, valves, fittings, ballcocks and other fixtures; cut and thread pipe; pack faucets. Troubleshoot, repair and install and maintain a wide range or plumbing fixtures and equipment such as water supply, waste sewage, gas lines and drainage pipes. Clean out drains and remove obstructions from water and sewer systems, disposals, toilets, urinals and drinking fountains. Operates and maintains well systems (e.g. water pressure, computer board, smart flow controller, transducer, gauges). Requisitions needed supplies. Maintains plumbing tools and equipment. Maintains gas, oil and water in assigned vehicle. Makes boiler repairs excluding controls. Mixes and pours concrete. Breaks up concrete and asphalt. Digs ditches and trenches, shoring as necessary. Covers ditches and trenches. Plans, designs and lays out assigned tasks. Prepares material cost and time estimates. Keeps time, labor and materials records. Operate a variety of maintenance and construction tools and equipment. Instructs and orients school personnel on the proper operation of systems and services. QUALIFICATONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by completion of an approved apprenticeship program in the plumbing trade. Two years journey-level plumbing experience involving repair, installation and maintenance of institutional plumbing fixtures, systems, lines, heating, appliances and equipment. KNOWLEDGE OF: Standard practices of the plumbing trade. Methods, materials and equipment used in plumbing installation, alterations and repair work. Plumbing ordinances and regulations contained applicable building codes. Hand and machine tools used in the plumbing trade. Appropriate safety procedures. Technical aspects of field of specialty. ABILITY TO: Perform skilled plumbing repair and maintenance work. Operate plumbing tools and equipment skillfully. Plan and lay out plumbing work including estimating labor and materials cost. Maintain simple records, perform shop math, operate a truck, observe legal and defensive driving practices. Work from verbal instructions, sketches, diagrams, blueprints, work orders, plans and specifications. Observe health and safety regulations. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. WORKING CONDITIONS: ENVIRONMENT: Indoor and outdoor work environment. Regular exposure to fumes, dust, dirt, oil/grease. Driving a vehicle to conduct work. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate equipment and use hand tools, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job. Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 75 to 100 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move heavy objects. Hearing and speaking to exchange information. Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally. Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching. This type of work may involve ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps, and will involve walking or standing for extended periods. Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced. HAZARDS: Working around and with machinery having moving parts. Working at heights.
