Millwright Helper

Overview: Pacific Wood Laminates is seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined individual to join our Maintenance team as a millwright helper. This role is designed for those looking to gain hands-on experience and develop skills in industrial maintenance. The primary function of this position is to train alongside experienced millwrights, learning to assist with mechanical tasks such as troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance procedures. Responsibilities: Train with and assist millwrights in troubleshooting mechanical issues, performing repairs, and conducting breakdowns and preventative maintenance. Accurately interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to assist in maintenance tasks. Assist in the disassembly and reassembly of machinery during repairs and maintenance procedures. Perform other necessary duties as assigned by the Supervisor, contributing to the overall maintenance and safety of the facility. Own or be willing to purchase essential millwright tools necessary for the job. Evaluation Period: This position will begin with an evaluation period through a temporary agency for the first 60 days (on average). Pay rates may vary depending on experience. During this time, performance, skills, and overall fit will be assessed to determine eligibility for permanent placement with Pacific Wood Laminates. Qualifications: Strong commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols. Basic understanding of mechanical systems, with a strong interest and aptitude in learning more. Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively to complete assigned projects. Attention to detail with the ability to accurately interpret technical documents such as blueprints and schematics. Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Strong communication skills, with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions clearly. Job Requirements: Wear all safety equipment and obey all safety rules. Be proficient in the use of hand and power tools, precision measuring & testing equipment. Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and conveyor systems. Be able to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Be able to perform labor-intensive work. Be able to work in extreme temperatures, in dusty and noisy conditions, work from heights, and in confined/restricted areas. Lift 2-20 pounds regularly, climb steps/ladders, stand/work from 2-3 hours at a time for 10-13 hours. Benefits: Competitive compensation. Vacation/Paid Time Off.
