F.L. Schlagle High School offers a competitive softball program as part of the district's athletics.Job GoalThe assistant coach reports directly to the head coach and is responsible for supporting the softball program through coaching, administration, and student-athlete development. The assistant coach must demonstrate loyalty to the program and carry out assignments given by the head coach.Essential FunctionsAssist the head coach as directed.Organize and direct coaching staff.Collect and maintain physical examination and insurance release forms.Report injuries to the school nurse.Maintain inventory of equipment and submit needs list.Check out and return all equipment.Keep accurate records of lost or stolen equipment.Provide roster of players.Assist the Athletic Director with award lists and ceremony planning.Ensure proper team conduct on trips and during contests.Know all rules pertaining to softball.Treat injuries and attend to athletes as needed.Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of equipment and uniforms.Organize practice sessions.QualificationsCertified teacher or eligible for Rule 10 approval through the Kansas State High School Activities Association.Skills and AbilitiesCommunication / Organization: Maintains communication with school personnel, parents, and guardians to enhance cooperative action meeting student needs. Utilizes technology effectively.Reasoning Ability: Solves practical problems and interprets instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Language Skills: Reads, analyzes, and writes professional reports and correspondence; presents information effectively to administrators and the public.Physical Demands: Regular sitting, walking, standing, talking or hearing; occasional lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds; occasional pushing or moving of 50-pound items; occasional home visits; visual acuity for close, distance, and depth perception.Work Environment: Loud environment typical of athletic facilities; direct responsibility for student safety and well-being.Other Skills and Abilities: Applies current research and theory to coaching, plans lessons aligned with objectives, establishes effective relationships with students, peers, parents, and community.Legal StatementThis position is open to all qualified applicants; the district is an equal opportunity employer.J-18808-Ljbffr
