Mechanical Design EngineerPay Rate: 40-48 per hourOn site West Lafayette Indiana 4790612 month contract to startThe Mechanical Design Engineer works in project teams to provide a broad range of mechanical engineering expertise designing complex analytical instrumentation systems and components for field application of scientific analytical equipment. The candidate will be responsible for all mechanical designs including packaging, machined, and fabricated components for vacuum and inlet assemblies, electronic enclosures, and mounting systems. This position includes involvement in prototyping and interfacing with scientific and manufacturing teams. Responsibilities include planning and tracking your own work schedules.Detailed Description:Product Development (CAD Design)Rapid Prototyping (additive and non-additive)Test fixture developmentDocumentation including drawings, build procedures, test procedures, etc.Requirements:BSME/MSME preferred from an accredited institutionMinimum 3 years’ relevant experience in mechanical design and product developmentExperience with SolidWorksExperience with SolidWorks EPDM or other PDM tools a plusExperience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) practicesExperience directing and working with Industrial Designers a plusWorking knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly designKnowledge of machining practices and what parts can/cannot be created in a machine shopKnowledge of sheet metal design practices including strength and tolerancingKnowledge of injection molding practices to include draft angles, texture, materials, etc. a plusInterface with suppliers during product development to expedite and coordinate part deliveries and resolve design issues with suppliersProvide ongoing engineering support for production instrumentsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProven analytical and problem-solving skillsHigh energy, proactive orientation; comfortable in a dynamic, entrepreneurial atmospherePractical/hands on experience with assembly of electro-mechanical components and systemsSome travel to customer sites and to test ranges may be requiredUS Citizenship Required____________________Equal Opportunity Employer: Race, Color, Religion, Sex, Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, National Origin, Age, Genetic Information, Disability, Protected Veteran Status, or any other legally protected group status.
