The practice serves patients with a wide range of needs, including treatment for colorectal conditions such as cancer, hemorrhoids, and Crohn's disease. As the only practice in Connecticut offering a colon and rectal surgery teaching residency, they are committed to both innovation and education, ensuring that patients receive top-tier care.Role Description Registered or Certified Medical Assistant to coordinate surgeons schedules and assists patients with scheduling surgical procedures.  General Duties Coordinates surgical procedure date with patient and according to assigned providers templates.Schedules and provides patient with details of preparation and or instructions.Confirms and enter patient demographic information along with insurance information.Obtains prior authorizations for scheduled procedures.Reschedules as needed.Utilizes providers schedules according to blocks.Releases blocks not utilized timely in accordance with block policies.Opens block schedules as needed to maximize provider schedules.Maintains templates for assigned provider.Responsible for entering assigned provider time off.Performs a variety of routine clerical tasks.Covers department during staff time/days off. Maintains clean and orderly area.*The company reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.Job Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalentExperience: Previous scheduling work-related experienceMedical Assistant certificationComputer skillsEPIC experience a plus  Skills Critical thinkingActive listeningAbility to multi-taskKnowledge of Medical TerminologyStrong Communication skills to effectively interact with physicians, patients, and other staffExperience in Customer Service and Patient CareDetail-oriented organizational skills to manage scheduling and maintain accurate records
