Opening date: Immediately Closing date: When filled Salary: $19.50 per hour Location: Frontier Homestead State Park Museum Time frame: Approximately 9 months (possible extension) Housing: Not provided The Utah Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks, has a seasonal position (no benefits) available at Frontier Homestead State Park Museum in Cedar City, Utah. This position is time/funding limited and part-time in nature. Appointment will last approximately 9 months from the date of hire; with the possibility of extension annually from March 1 through November 30. Housing is not provided. Examples of Duties Oversee the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and facilities at Frontier Homestead State Park Museum. It is the responsibility of the Journey Maintenance / Construction Specialist to ensure the buildings, grounds, and facilities are clean and in good condition for the safety and enjoyment of our visitors. Duties will involve general facility and grounds maintenance including painting, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, weed control, lawn care, snow removal, as well as general cleaning and sanitation. An ideal candidate will be able to troubleshoot and diagnose problems, and complete repairs and or preventative maintenance on buildings and equipment. Additional duties may include greeting park visitors and helping them discover the park’s resources and how to enjoy them appropriately; staffing the gift shop; collecting park fees; and performing other duties as assigned. Job Requirements and Skills Applicant must be 16 years of age or older and have a valid Utah driver’s license at the time of employment. Applicant should have the ability to work independently in a tourism environment. Preference may be given to applicants with cash handling, customer service experience, and education in a natural resource-related field. Other Applicants must be willing to work in an outdoor setting, and work weekends and holidays. Applicants must successfully pass a criminal history background check upon hire.
