Supports new product development, provides technical guidance, and assists with training less experienced personnel. Uses judgment to adapt methods for non-routine assignments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Work with management, sales, and marketing to establish product designs and improvements. Create and evaluate design ideas, considering form, function, cost, and manufacturability. Design components and assemblies to meet industry and customer needs. Define materials, production costs, and customer specifications. Collaborate with internal departments and customers as part of cross-functional teams. Track time, report metrics, and provide technical support. Mentor less-experienced team members and assist in process development. Use engineering judgment to adapt methods for non-routine tasks. Use SolidWorks 2D/3D CAD software and MS Office. Uphold Positronic’s standards of integrity, quality, and operational excellence. Identify hazards in the workplace and report them to management and/or the safety coordinator. Collaborate with the EHS department to meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including OSHA, NFPA, DNR, EPA, and Amphenol sustainability practices. Work with the Quality department to ensure compliance with AS9100 certification standards. Comply with all company policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 5 years of experience in a related technical field OR An equivalent combination of education and experience. Physical Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, reach, and reach overhead. Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs. May require use of technical equipment, measuring devices, and computer systems. Requires finger dexterity, near vision, and ability to interpret visual data. Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in a production and office environment with exposure to machinery, moderate noise, and standard shop materials. Travel is required on occasion. Competencies Knowledge Advanced knowledge of engineering concepts applied to product design and validation. Proficiency in creating detailed CAD models and interpreting technical drawings. Solid understanding of quality systems, industry standards, and cost analysis. Knowledge of connector product lifecycle from concept to production. Awareness of cross-functional impacts (manufacturing, procurement, quality). Skills Proficiency in 2-D/3-D CAD systems and design analysis. Ability to solve complex problems and guide design decisions. Effective collaboration across departments and mentoring of junior staff. Skilled in design documentation, project tracking, and technical support. Strong written, verbal, and visual communication. Abilities Ability to independently resolve moderately complex technical issues. Ability to adapt engineering methods to unique project challenges. Ability to mentor junior staff and collaborate across disciplines. Ability to apply deductive reasoning to evaluate engineering tradeoffs.
