The Team Black & Veatch’s Infrastructure Advisory Business focuses on the asset lifecycle: Asset Management & Operations & Maintenance, Infrastructure Technology, Cybersecurity Solutions, Program Enablement, Strategy, Planning & Optimization, and Transactions. The Opportunity Join as a principal consultant and technical lead to deliver integrated resource management projects, focusing on market modeling through platforms like PLEXOS and Encompass. You will support clients across the infrastructure lifecycle with integrated resource planning, resource adequacy, storage, transmission, demand‑side resources, market studies, and related generation and transmission planning efforts. Deliver innovative solutions to address aging infrastructure, portfolio optimization, asset investments, and improved data management. Support Strategy, Planning & Optimization through energy market modeling to inform client strategy and investment decisions. Translate client objectives, regulatory requirements, and market assumptions into actionable long‑term resource plans. Key Responsibilities Lead high‑complexity consulting tasks in support of project delivery, including: Integrated resource planning (IRP) support: scenario design, assumptions development, documentation. Energy market modeling using PLEXOS and EnCompass (production cost, capacity expansion, portfolio studies). Resource adequacy, reliability, and planning reserve margin assessments; capacity accreditation and ELCC evaluation where applicable. Portfolio optimization and investment planning (generation, storage, transmission, demand‑side resources) with sensitivities on load, fuel, policy, and technology costs. Model QA/QC, calibration, validation; develop repeatable workflows, templates, and client‑ready exhibits. Serve as a technical manager or director on strategy and planning projects. Manage tasks, budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Provide technical subject matter expertise, recommend innovative solutions, and produce complex work products and solutions across all phases of engagement. Provide thought leadership through presentations, publications, conferences, and professional society committees. Lead client meetings, workshops, develop presentations, and communicate effectively with clients. Support business development activities; lead development of scopes, schedules, and budgets. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree preferred. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience. Typically 10+ years experience in a business/consulting environment.
