Optomi, in partnership with a leading utilities provider, is expanding its enterprise data and analytics ecosystem and modernizing its cloud-based analytics platform to enable enterprise-wide reporting, business intelligence, and data-driven decision-making. We are seeking a highly skilled Looker Analytics Developer with strong expertise in Looker, LookML, BigQuery, SQL, and modern business intelligence practices to design, develop, and optimize enterprise analytics solutions.This role will play a key part in the organizations analytics modernization effort—supporting financial reporting, capital project analytics, safety analytics, and future enterprise analytics initiatives. We are seeking a highly skilled Looker Analytics Developer with strong hands-on experience in Looker, LookML, BigQuery, SQL, and enterprise BI.This role is central to the organization's analytics transformation and will help establish Looker as a trusted enterprise platform for reporting, visualization, data exploration, and self-service analytics.The Looker Analytics Developer will partner directly with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand reporting and analytical needs, define business metrics, develop semantic models, create dashboards and explores, and deliver intuitive solutions that enable users to confidently work with enterprise data.The role will also collaborate with data engineering and architecture teams to ensure the underlying BigQuery data environment effectively supports enterprise BI and analytics requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesLooker & LookML DevelopmentDesign, develop, and maintain enterprise Looker solutions supporting financial, capital project, safety, operational, and corporate analytics.Develop and maintain LookML projects, models, explores, views, dimensions, measures, parameters, filters, and derived tables.Build scalable and reusable LookML structures that support multiple business functions and reporting requirements.Develop intuitive Looker dashboards and visualizations that clearly communicate business performance and trends.Translate business requirements into well-designed Looker dashboards, explores, reports, and self-service analytical experiences.Develop governed semantic models that provide users with consistent and trusted access to enterprise data.Implement reusable dimensions, measures, filters, and business logic to reduce duplicated reporting logic.Establish Looker development standards, naming conventions, modeling patterns, documentation, and best practices.Manage Looker content and promote effective organization of dashboards, folders, looks, and shared analytical assets.Support Looker deployment processes, version control, testing, and promotion across development and production environments.Troubleshoot and optimize Looker models, queries, dashboards, and user experiences.Enterprise Semantic Layer & MetricsHelp establish Looker as the enterprise semantic layer for business intelligence and reporting.Translate business definitions and requirements into governed LookML models and reusable analytical logic.Partner with business stakeholders to define and standardize enterprise KPIs, metrics, dimensions, and business definitions.Ensure key business metrics are calculated consistently across dashboards, departments, and reporting solutions.Design semantic models that allow business users to explore data without requiring deep technical knowledge of underlying source systems.Identify opportunities to consolidate redundant reporting logic and migrate fragmented reporting into governed Looker solutions.Establish reusable analytical components that enable scalable self-service reporting.Maintain clear documentation of business definitions, metric logic, data sources, and relationships.Business Intelligence & Dashboard DevelopmentPartner with business leaders, analysts, and subject matter experts to identify what the organization needs to measure and understand.Develop executive, management, and operational dashboards in Looker.Design dashboards that emphasize actionable insights, appropriate visualizations, intuitive navigation, and effective storytelling with data.Develop reporting solutions for financial performance, capital projects, safety, operations, and other enterprise business functions.Analyze existing reporting processes and identify opportunities to improve usability, consistency, automation, and self-service capabilities.Convert recurring manual reports into governed, scalable Looker dashboards and analytical applications.Develop ad hoc analyses and exploratory solutions to answer emerging business questions.Validate dashboards and analytical outputs with business stakeholders to ensure they accurately represent business requirements.
