Sr. Python Data Engineer
Globant is seeking aSenior Data Engineer (Python)to design, build, and ship production-grade data and AI systems for enterprise clients. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on delivery, including owning end-to-end data and AI feature releases, mentoring junior engineers, and guiding technical workstreams from design through production.

Design, build, and deliverproduction-grade data and AI systemsfor enterprise clients
Lead technical workstreamsand coordinate execution across delivery phases
Mentor junior engineers to help strengthen engineering practices and team execution
Ownend-to-end deliveryof data and AI features, from implementation decisions to production outcomes
Key skills and requirementsDegree inComputer Science/Engineering(or equivalent experience)
5+ yearsof relevant professional experience in data engineering, including leading technical workstreams, mentoring junior engineers, and driving adoption ofsoftware engineering best practiceswithin a team
Expert-level proficiencyinPythonandSQL
Ability to work inpolyglot environments(Scala, Java) when required by client enterprise systems
Strong experience buildingAgentic AI, Generative AI, Machine Learning, and Business Intelligencesystems, including: Prompt design
Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
Embeddings
Vector databases
Context construction
Output handling in production workflowsHands-on experience with modern data and AI frameworks such asSpark, LangChain, Databricks, Dask, Airflow, Dagster, and Kedro
Ability to lead AI feature implementation end to end, with sound judgment across: Model behavior
Evaluation
Reliability
Guardrails
Trade-offs between quality, latency, and costDeep knowledge ofMLOps/LLMOps, includingCI/CD for data workflowsand automated agent evaluation (LangSmith, Opik, Langfuse)
Experience usinginfrastructure as code(Terraform) acrossAWS, Azure, and GCP
Experience implementing data security and governance controls, including managingPII/PHI, authentication, andRBAC
Exceptional time management and the ability to own technical workstreams autonomously
Strong verbal and written communication skills inEnglishand thelocal office language
Willingness totravel as required
Preferred qualifications: Experience using coding agents (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, etc.)
