Junior HVAC Estimator

Position SummaryThe Estimation Assistant is a key support role responsible for managing the front-end estimating workflow for commercial and industrial HVAC projects. This position supports bid intake, document organization, quantity takeoffs, and proposal coordination while working directly with senior estimators and operations leadership.This is a high-impact role in a fast-paced environment, ideal for someone looking to build a career in mechanical construction estimating.Key ResponsibilitiesBid Intake & OrganizationSource and track project opportunities from bid platforms and direct invitesReview bid documents for scope relevanceCreate and maintain organized digital bid foldersEnter and track projects in bid tracking systemsEstimating Support & TakeoffsPerform quantity takeoffs for ductwork, equipment, and piping systemsReview drawings and specifications to understand project scopeAssist with vendor and subcontractor pricingCompile data into estimating templatesProposal CoordinationAssist in assembling proposals and bid packagesCoordinate internal review and revisionsSubmit bids via required platformsMaintain proposal documentation and correspondenceBid Tracking & Follow-UpTrack bid status (won / lost / pending)Follow up on submitted proposalsMaintain accurate estimating recordsProject HandoffCompile awarded project documentationCoordinate handoff to project management teamEnsure continuity from estimating to operationsQualificationsRequired0–2 years in construction, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical or estimating Strong organizational and time management skillsAbility to manage multiple deadlines simultaneouslyProficiency in Microsoft Excel and WordAbility or strong willingness to read construction drawingsPreferredExposure to HVAC or mechanical systemsExperience with Bluebeam or similar plan review softwareFamiliarity with bid platforms (BuildingConnected, PlanHub, Procore)Experience with takeoff or estimating softwareWork EnvironmentFast-paced, deadline-driven estimating environmentMultiple concurrent bids and shifting prioritiesHigh level of coordination with estimating and operations teamsGrowth PathEstimation Assistant → Estimator IEstimator → Senior Estimator / Lead EstimatorPathways into Project Management or SalesAdvancement is based on performance, accuracy, and initiative.
