Must be able to pass the Carpentry NOCTI #5165.* Completion of a full year of training from an approved education program in the specialization maycount toward a half year of the work experience requirements. Relevant teaching experience may count asequal to work experience requirements.AREAS OF INSTRUCTION: The Carpentry Teacher is assigned to deliver a comprehensiveinstructional program of study. The teacher is also responsible for thefacility, equipment, curriculum, and safety. The teacher is responsible forcomplying with federal, state and local laws, policies and procedures forcareer and technical educationDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Obtain, if necessary, and maintain a valid West Virginia Vocational Teaching CertificateMaintain and upgrade professional skills and teaching techniquesMaintain professional work habits, attitudes, and appearanceDevelop instructional plans and organize class time to provide a balanced program of instruction,demonstration and working time* Perform any duties assigned by the administration* Evaluate each pupil's performance and growth in knowledge and understanding; monitor progress towardlearning outcomes; prepare progress reports* Foster a classroom and lab climate conducive to learning with strict adherence to all safety policies andprocedures* Utilize instructional management systems which increase student learning and maximize time on task* Must be computer and software literate and must be able to use 21st Century Teaching skills andtechniques* Work effectively with partnership members and maintain an active advisory council* Assume responsibility for policy development/revision of all necessary policies relevant to the programsfor which the employee is responsibleMaintain records and compile dataProvide individual and small group instructions whenever appropriateAdapt curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual and special abilitiesEstablish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environmentSupervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day, as required.Participate in the student youth organization affiliated with the specific program areaCommunicate with parents and school counselors on pupil progress; promote pupil-teacher-parentrelationships• Maintain basic attendance accounting and business services, as required* Adhere to all federal, state, and local educational policies* Assist in the recruitment and placement of students in the specified program area and cooperate withother vocational teachers and employers in job placement of students* Complete all reports and request for information, accurately and completelyADDITIONAL MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Applicants who have been dismissed or who have hadtheir contracts non-renewed for cause by another school district are not eligible for consideration;applicants who have recent unsatisfactory evaluations are not to be considered eligible for consideration;applicants who demonstrate unsatisfactory interview performance are not be eligible for consideration; and,applicants who receive unfavorable reference recommendations will not be eligible for consideration.
