Pumps hum, screens cycle, and the lab results align with permit targets. You make a round—checking flows, observing clarifier performance, verifying chemical feed, and logging readings. Mid-shift, you assist with a maintenance inspection, safely climb to an elevated platform to assess equipment, and operate mobile equipment to stage materials. Before handoff, you update the crew, confirm PPE, and ensure the system is set up for a smooth transition.What you’ll doOperate and monitor wastewater treatment systems supporting steel production and service units.Handle, transport, and process product, residuals, and treatment chemicals—some heavy, sharp, or hazardous.Perform manual labor, including lifting items over 50 lbs, staging materials, and housekeeping.Assist with inspections and basic maintenance on treatment equipment to keep assets reliable.Work safely on elevated platforms and operate mobile equipment as assigned.Thrive in changing conditions: hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, and noisy environments.What you’ll bringCurrent Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) Wastewater Operator License, Class A or higher (required).High School Diploma or GED.Ability to work rotating 8-hour shifts, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, with overtime as needed.Commitment to safety at all times; consistent use of required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective clothing, metatarsal boots, and respirator when required).Reliable attendance, punctuality, and the ability to work with self-direction.Must pass a pre-employment digital assessment.Competencies that power your impactThink: Think Critically and Drive ChangeLead: Develop Talent and CollaborateDo: Empower Performance and Deliver ResultsAbout U.
