Food Runner

Our Columbia, MD location opened in 2018, giving nearby residents of Howard County a unique take on Maryland's eastern shore. This spacious and industrially-designed full-service restaurant, bar and patio draws its inspiration from the surrounding Chesapeake Bay area, has earned a reputation as an authentic oyster house, and features an all-scratch and locally sourced menu. The Walrus is seeking a Food Runner to join our team in support of the creation and execution of this authentic experience. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Primarily serve food to tables including appetizers, entrees, and desserts Cordially presents the food to guests with a smile; knowing table and seat numbers to execute a seamless delivery Maintain knowledge of the food menus to describe ingredients to guests and answer inquiries as needed Comfortably carries three plates and can walk with a tray, but will ask for help if necessary, to avoid mishaps Work with other food runners as well as with management, servers, hosts, bussers, and bartenders to create a seamless and memorable dining experience for our gusts Work with a purpose; expedite food, water tables, pre bus tables, keep up appearance of the restaurant, help fellow employees and complete additional assigned tasks to provide a productive and positive work environment Maintain a clean work station area throughout the shift Attend educational/developmental sessions as require The Walrus is part of SRG Concepts, a privately-owned restaurant group that currently owns and operates 7 locations in the greater Washington DC, metropolitan area. We are currently executing our full service and fast casual growth strategy. Our concepts are Chicken & Whiskey, The Walrus Oyster & Ale House, and doi moi. Requirements: Proficient in English Ability to listen to directions Ability to communicate effectively Stand and work in constant motion for the entire shift Great organizational skills Ability to juggle multiple tasks at once Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment Comfortably carries three plates and can walk with a tray Be able to lift up to 50 lbs Previous food service experience (Preferred) Possesses National Restaurant Association ServeSafe Certificate (Preferred) Job Types: Full-time, Part-time Pay: $6.00 - $12.00 per hour Benefits: 401(k) matching Dental insurance Employee discount Flexible schedule Health insurance Referral program Vision insurance Shift: 8 hour shift Day shift Evening shift Work Location: In person
