We are a well-established OEM machine builder is looking for a full-time engineer to design custom industrial turnkey systems. Our focus ranges from mechanical deburring and finishing to automation and material removal and robotic systems. We provide equipment to several industries, including but not limited to: ·        Automotive·        Aerospace and Defense·        Agriculture and Mining·        Powdered Metal Components·        Firearms·        Much more... We are seeking a curious engineer with hands on mechanical experience and a high level of mechanical aptitude. You must have a solid foundation of assemblies. We prefer a hands-on tinkerer that also sees the big picture. This position requires creativity, resourcefulness and vision, not just the use of drafting software. Our projects typically span a six month period where you will be intimately involved with customers and suppliers. We determine the process and conceptualize a machine to achieve it. You will be working to learn how to do that from the beginning. Having a full understanding of the entire process from start to finish requires a desire to understand and interact with the team. We love questions and want to answer all of them. You must be capable of creating models in Solidworks with high accuracy using suggestions from the ownership and the team.  Our projects are unique and fun. They start with a customer sending parts to us for testing. We provide a solution using our years of experience and our expansive lab. The results are determined and defined, which is the foundation of what the machine will become. We can draw from the thousands of machines we have built over the years, learning from each one. The results are very satisfying when a machine comes to life and you were a big part of creating it.  Most of our systems are unique and tailored to specific customer requirements. Key responsibilities for this position include:Work with Sales and Applications to understand the process and the requirements of the system. We have an applications lab where we test and develop various processes that then get incorporated into the machine.Communicate with customers and suppliers as needed to determine feasibility, availability and fit for individual purchased components/items.Participate in kick-off meetings with the team to review concept and details prior to beginning the design.Participate in wrap-up meetings with the team to review details and evaluate the outcome of the project.Using SolidWorks, design machine frames, internal sub-assemblies, individual components, purchased components, work holding, tooling, spindles, etc.Create project-specific BOM, detail drawings, approval and layout drawings, and job packages for release to manufacturing.Provide mechanical documentation packages per customer requirements. This can include providing mechanical drawings and models in variety of different formats.Work together with Electrical Engineering to incorporate the necessary provisions for components, enclosures, sensors, etc.Communicate with external fabricators, machining suppliers, etc., and supply information as needed.Communicate with the assembly team throughout the project and answer questions as needed.Preferred Experience Required:Industrial Automation and Machine DesignSolidworks or other 3D modeling softwareA basic understanding of AC motors, DC motors, conveyors, bearings, linear motion, drive systems, servo, stepper motors, etc.Word/Excel/OutlookAn Engineering degree is welcome but not necessarily required depending on experience.We combine in-house machining, fabricating, and manufacturing with outsourcing to a network of suppliers.
