Flight Test Engineer

United States | Full-Time | Aerospace / Stratospheric SystemsAn innovative aerospace company developing next-generation high-altitude platform systems (HAPS) is seeking a Flight Test Engineer to join its Mission Operations team.This organisation is building cutting-edge stratospheric platforms designed for communications, remote sensing, Earth observation, environmental monitoring, and defense-related applications.Their technology operates at the edge of aerospace and advanced flight systems engineering, supporting both commercial and government customers.This is an opportunity to work on highly complex airborne systems in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment with significant exposure to flight operations, testing, systems integration, and mission execution.The Role:You will support the planning, coordination, execution, and analysis of integrated ground and flight test campaigns for advanced aerospace vehicles. The position requires close collaboration with vehicle, avionics, systems, and operations teams to ensure safe and successful mission execution.Responsibilities include:Test Planning & ExecutionDevelop and execute ground and flight test plans, procedures, and test cardsSupport Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs) and safety assessmentsExecute system-level testing across avionics, mechanical, electrical, and integrated vehicle systemsSupport real-time flight operations and operational decision-making during test campaignsFlight Test & Mission OperationsAssist with mission planning and operational readiness activitiesSupport telemetry monitoring and real-time test executionConduct pre-flight and post-flight briefings and reportingCoordinate with multidisciplinary engineering and operations teams during missionsData Analysis & ReportingAnalyze flight and ground test dataGenerate technical reports, post-test summaries, and compliance documentationSupport troubleshooting and identification of hardware/software/system issuesContribute to continuous improvement of test processes and workflowsSkills:RequiredBachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline5+ years of aerospace ground and/or flight test experienceExperience planning and executing integrated test campaignsStrong understanding of flight test processes and documentationExperience with test procedures, reporting, and data analysisFamiliarity with hazard/risk assessments and safety processesAbility to work in fast-paced, multidisciplinary environmentsStrong communication and coordination skillsPreferredExperience with UAV/UAS, HAPS, or advanced aerospace vehiclesTelemetry or mission control experienceSystems engineering and requirements verification exposureExperience with Python, MATLAB, or other scripting/data analysis toolsBackground supporting TRRs or formal flight readiness reviews
