Registered Respiratory Therapist, Full Time
The Silvercrest Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, affiliated with New York Presbyterian, is a 320-bed skilled nursing located in Briarwood, Queens. Under the general supervision of the Director of Respiratory Therapy/Designee, the Respiratory Therapist will perform cardiopulmonary evaluation, respiratory treatment techniques and education to residents, staff and family as permitted within the scope of Respiratory Therapy practice. To work as a member of the clinical care team to help maximize cardiopulmonary function.
There are two RT positions available: one full-time and one part-time, both with a schedule of 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM.

Responsibilities
Performing clinical assessment including inspection, auscultation, and vital signs and collecting specimens of blood and other physiological specimens.
Performing diagnostic tests including but not limited to pulse oximetry, capnography, Bedside Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT’s) and ABG’s as per physician’s order.
Analyzing and interpreting test results including but not limited to the interpretation of PFT’s, ABG’s, oximetry, recognizes abnormal cardiac rhythms and basic emergency chest x-rays (such as pneumonia or pneumothorax).
Use of mechanical ventilator support with thorough knowledge of facility ventilators including the ability to set up and trouble shoot ventilators and alarms, and correct utilization of ventilator options including: SIMV, PEEP, CPAP, PSV, PCV and NIV.
Application and monitoring of medical gases (excluding anesthetic gases) and the use of gas administering devices.
Maintaining and caring for artificial airways (including trach tube changes).
Bronchopulmonary hygiene including but not limited to suctioning (tracheal and nasotracheal), postural drainage and Chest Physical Therapy.
Knowledge of drug therapy as it relates to respiratory care and administration of pharmacologic agents related to respiratory care.
Providing for the safe transit and transfer of the ventilated and non- ventilated residents.
Knowledgeable in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation principles and practice as it relates to respiratory care practice.
Assessing airway emergencies and providing appropriate interventions.
Knowledgeable in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation. Provides Basic Life Support measures to ventilated and non-ventilated residents.
Providing education of resident, family and staff as indicated or as requested by Director.
Knowledgeable in weaning criteria and protocols.
Knowledgeable in infection control practices.
Knowledgeable in Emergency Preparedness and Response as it relates to Respiratory care.
Providing accurate and appropriate documentation as per department policies and procedures. Handles confidential information appropriately.
Planning respiratory treatment program in consultation with physician.
Participating in Comprehensive Care Plans and Clinical Rounds as scheduled.
Able to organize time so assigned work is completed.
Adherence to the standards and mission of the facility as outlined in the Silvercrest Credo.
Qualifications
Graduate of an AMA-NBRC Respiratory Therapy Program. Registered RRT or Registry Eligible by the NBRC.
BLS certification required
Licensed Respiratory Therapist/Technician State of New York
G-17 Certificate of Fitness (mandatory for full-time employees).
Strong critical care and acute care experience
Proficient in airway management and patient assessment
Knowledge of medical terminology and physiology
Experience with ventilators and patient monitoring
Familiarity with hospital settings, including Level I and II Trauma Centers
Background in emergency medicine and pediatric intensive care (PICU) is a plus
· 1-year experience in an active respiratory department preferred.

Pay: $45.47 - $61.40 per hour
