Join us!”Overview Of The RoleThe Accounting Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, including cashier responsibilities, verifying and posting transactions, managing accounts receivable, and applying payments. This role ensures the proper handling, reconciliation, and security of cash, petty cash, and financial documents in accordance with company policies. The Accounting Clerk supports audits, completes period-end reporting, and serves as a liaison with business partners while maintaining strong communication with internal departments and assisting leadership with additional accounting and administrative tasks as needed.The Accounting Clerk is expected to ensure exceptional service that is consistent and continually in accordance with the Marriott Autograph Collection standards under the franchise of Mainsail Lodging & Development.Essential Job FunctionsCheck figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codesOrganize, secure, and maintain all files, records, cash and cash equivalents in accordance with policies and proceduresRecord, store, access, and/or analyze computerized financial information. Classify, code, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals, ledgers, and/or computersResponsible for Accounts Receivable including but not limited to maintaining a billing control log, accurately posting and applying payments, maintain customer files, and collectionsCheck figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codesPost customer payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactionsPosts revenues by verifying and entering transactionsComplete period-end closing procedures and reports as specifiedAudit cashier banks periodically according to SOPsMaintain, distribute, and record petty cash, cashier banks, and contracts. Document, maintain, communicate, and act upon all Cash Variances according to SOPsAct as liaison between properties and armored car service or primary banking institution. Participate in internal, external, and regulatory audit processes and ensure compliance with SOPsMaintain open communications with all hotels and departmentsAssist supervisor with tasksPerform other duties as management’s requestsEducation And ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent required Previous accounting experience requiredPrevious hotel experience requiredPrevious General Cashier experience preferredPrevious Marriott systems experience preferred (CI/TY & Opera)Must be proficient in Excel and Outlook; and have reasonable level general computer skillsAvailable Monday – Friday with occasional weekendsExcellent communication skills needed with both internal and external guests and business partners, both verbal and writtenOrganizational skills and strong attention to detail requiredPhysical DemandsAbility to sit or stand for extended periods of timeCorrected vision to normal rangeAbility to work long hours as neededAbility to lift, pull and push up to 50 lbs Ability to communicate clearly Mental DemandsMake sound judgments quicklyWork on multiple tasks, making appropriate progress towards deadlinesAble to work independently, take direction and provide direction to othersMaintain the highest degree of confidentialityAbility to effectively handle challenges in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessaryNOTICE: The hotel business functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
