As a U.S.-based Series A startup, it operates with a distributed team across the United States, United Kingdom, and Ireland.About the OpportunityThe Machine Learning Engineer designs, develops, and optimizes computer vision models and deep learning solutions across multiple projects. This role contributes throughout the machine learning lifecycle, from data collection and annotation through model development, deployment, and monitoring.The position plays an important role in delivering reliable, production-ready machine learning solutions that help reduce food waste and environmental impact. It also provides opportunities to influence technical direction, product strategy, and the company’s broader machine learning capabilities.Responsibilities• Build and maintain ETL pipelines supporting machine learning datasets.• Clean and prepare datasets and perform feature engineering.• Annotate and review image data as a core part of the role.• Use Python, SQL, and statistical analysis to extract insights and evaluate data quality.• Train, fine-tune, and evaluate deep learning models for computer vision applications.• Manage machine learning outcomes across the full lifecycle, from data quality through deployment and monitoring.• Collaborate with data annotation teams to improve labeling quality, processes, and workflows.• Partner with engineering teams to productionize, deploy, and monitor machine learning models.• Develop processes and tools that make machine learning capabilities more accessible across the organization.• Independently lead projects, make technical decisions, and contribute to the company’s machine learning strategy.Requirements• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.• Minimum of 3 years of experience in machine learning or data science, with a focus on computer vision.• Proven experience applying semantic segmentation in production environments.• Strong proficiency in Python and experience with tools such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, Jupyter, pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib.• Experience using AI-assisted development tools.• Strong knowledge of statistical analysis, model evaluation, and machine learning methodologies.• At least 2 years of experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.• Knowledge of MLOps practices for deploying, monitoring, and maintaining machine learning models.• Strong analytical, programming, and problem-solving skills.• Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced startup environment.• Strong communication and collaboration skills.Pay Range and Compensation Package• The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors.Equal Opportunity Statement: Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
