ABOUT THIS POSITIONThe Planning & Development Department guides the physical development of the city by preserving our historic sites, planning what can be built where, and ensuring safe construction of buildings and infrastructure. A host of advisory and governing bodies of residents as well as elected officials provide oversight as the city grows and needs arise. The process is governed through development and enforcement of city codes and ordinances.The City of Phoenix Planning and Development Department is seeking a Structural Plans Engineer to review and examine complex building construction plans for compliance with adopted codes and ordinances. Advice and guidance is provided to architects, engineers, and contractors related to the interpretation of the Phoenix Building Construction Code and in resolving complicated code issues. Technical expertise is exercised to develop and maintain consistency among plan review and inspection staff.IDEAL CANDIDATEKnowledge of International Building Code (IBC) and construction codes.Knowledge of plan review and examining complex building construction documents prepared by structural engineers for compliance with adopted codes and ordinances.Ability to use digital design and plan review mark up software (i.e., Bluebeam, Projectdox, AutoCAD, etc.).Ability to provide written and verbal communication related to the interpretation of the Phoenix Building Construction Code to resolve complicated code related issues.SALARYPay Range: $93,121.60 to $137,592.00 annually.Hiring Range: $93,121.60 to $124,800.00 annually.Pay Range Explanation:* Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.* Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.
