Materials Manager

We are hiring a detail-oriented Materials Manager and Inventory Accountant to perform and coordinate buying activities within our organization. This person will focus on partnering with and developing supplier relationships to improve outcomes for our customers and stakeholders. As a member of the finance team, this role reports to the CFO.
Procurement responsibilities:
Optimize inventory levels, investment and carrying costs
Vet and develop close working relationships with new and existing suppliers
Manage supplier performance, including pricing, lead times, delivery reliability, and product quality
Procure products in coordination with managers across the organization
Develop purchasing budgets, policies and procurement strategies
Manage logistics, freight and third-party warehouses
Arrange shipping and obtain competitive freight rates
Monitor obsolete, slow-moving, and excess inventory
Support operations with accurate data, including product usage and forecasts, risk analyses, etc.
Inventory accounting responsibilities:
Coordinate physical inventory counts at all locations
Investigate inventory variances and recommend corrective actions
Manage the stock ledger and sku maintenance
Perform cost accounting related to co-manufactured products
Analyze operational costs, labor, overhead, and material variances
Assist in pricing analyses, monthly close and gross margin reporting
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
3-5 years of progressive experience in inventory accounting, cost accounting, purchasing, or supply chain management
Experience negotiating multi-year, multi-location supply agreements
Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or food and beverage environments preferred
Strong knowledge of GAAP and inventory costing methodologies
Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, Sage, Acumatica, etc.).
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and financial modeling
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, both written and verbal
Preferred certifications include Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)
Experience supervising employees preferred
