This is a unique opportunity to work independently in a field-based role while helping support and shape operations in the region.You will be responsible for the design, programming, and integration of building automation systems across large-scale commercial projects, including hospitals and other complex facilities. This role involves working with HVAC, lighting, energy management, and security systems to deliver high-performance, fully integrated building solutions.You will collaborate closely with field technicians, project managers, clients, and operations leadership to ensure systems are properly engineered, programmed, and commissioned for optimal performance.This position is primarily remote and field-based, supporting projects throughout the West Palm Beach and surrounding areas, with periodic travel to our Sunrise office as needed and in alignment with the Operations Manager.This is an opportunity to join an established Florida-based company (founded in 1984 with offices statewide) where you are more than just a number—you are a key contributor helping support and grow a strategic market with real visibility and impact.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and engineer building automation systems based on project requirements, including control strategies, system architecture, and sequence of operationsDevelop and integrate HVAC, lighting, security, and energy management systems using Distech Controls and Niagara (Tridium) platformsCreate detailed control drawings, system schematics, wiring diagrams, points lists, and functional sequencesProgram and configure controllers, supervisory controllers, and networked BAS devices within Distech and Niagara environmentsDevelop system graphics, logic, and control programming that accurately reflects design intent and project requirementsSupport system startup, testing, troubleshooting, and final commissioning in coordination with field technicians and project teamsProvide advanced technical support during installation and commissioning to ensure system performance, integration, and reliabilityEnsure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and project specificationsStay current with emerging BAS technologies, including evolving capabilities within Niagara and Distech ecosystemsSkills, Knowledge and ExpertiseExperience with building automation systems (Niagara, Distech, ACAD preferred)Knowledge of protocols like BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorksStrong understanding of HVAC, lighting, energy, and security systemsExcellent troubleshooting and communication skillsDegree in engineering or relevant field, or equivalent experienceWillingness to travel to client sites as neededPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, and reach as needed.Ability to walk active job sites, including climbing stairs and ladders and navigating uneven surfaces.Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.Ability to wear required PPE during site visits.Why Work at Brooks Building Solutions?Brooks Building Solutions is a Metro Jacksonville Top Workplace (three years running!) and a leader in HVAC, building automation, and energy-efficient solutions for commercial buildings.
