Lead Mechanic

Job Description Mechanic Position – Galt RanchWhite Sulphur Springs, MontanaGalt Ranch, a family-owned cattle ranch located near White Sulphur Springs, Montana, is seeking a skilled full-time Mechanic to join our team. This is a dedicated shop position supporting our extensive fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment.Position OverviewWe are looking for a reliable, experienced mechanic who takes pride in keeping equipment running safely and efficiently. This is a mechanic role only — you will not be expected to perform ranch hand duties.Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnose, repair, and maintain a wide variety of Ford vehicles and trucks.Service and repair a broad range of Caterpillar heavy equipment, including D6, D8N, D8K, D5, 627A, 627B, 980H, 980G, 16G, 420F2IT, 319, and other models.Work on Big Bud tractors and general ranch equipment (tractors, balers, swathers, and more).Service our very wide fleet of vehicles and support equipment.Perform fabrication and welding work as needed.Conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.Keep the shop clean, organized, and safe.Fabrication experience is highly preferred.QualificationsProven mechanical experience with light-duty vehicles (Ford preferred) and heavy equipment (Caterpillar experience preferred).Strong diagnostic and repair skills.Welding and fabrication experience preferred.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Valid driver's license.Physical ability to work in a shop and outdoor environments.What We OfferCompetitive pay – DOE (Depends on Experience)Brand-new, state-of-the-art 8,000 sq ft shop (built 4 years ago) with in-floor heat for year-round comfort.Fully equipped shop with welders, lathe, drill press, and a wide range of tools and equipment — all provided.Health insurance available for employees committed longer than 3 months.Housing available (depending on applicant's family size).Stable, year-round full-time position in a beautiful part of Montana.If you are a professional mechanic who enjoys working with a diverse mix of vehicles and heavy equipment in a well-equipped facility, we encourage you to apply.
