Overview
As a Hardware Engineer on Amazon LEO, you design cost-optimized Customer Terminal hardware for high-volume production. You work across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to deliver robust, scalable solutions that enable fast, affordable broadband globally. You will own key hardware designs and drive optimization, validation, and readiness for production. This role blends hands-on design with cross-functional collaboration to support mass-market terminal devices at scale.

ResponsibilitiesDesign high-speed digital, RF, power, and mixed-signal circuitry in collaboration with cross-functional teamsDevelop subsystems prioritizing cost, simplicity, reliability, and manufacturabilityEvaluate architectures and components for BOM cost reduction and simplificationConduct engineering trade studies balancing performance, cost, and scheduleOwn schematic capture and coordinate with PCB layout for production-ready designsDesign and optimize DC/DC power supplies and power architecturesIdentify opportunities to reduce component count, PCB complexity, and assembly costSupport requirement definition and develop hardware validation and test plansLead board bring-up, debug, characterization, and validation of modules and subsystemsSupport automated test systems, fixtures, and factory test solutions to minimize test time and costCollaborate with manufacturing and supply chain on sourcing, qualification, and cost-reduction initiativesSupport designs through qualification, ramp, and high-volume manufacturing
Key requirementsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related fieldExperience in motherboard design, PCB design including schematic capture, stackup, and layoutExperience in new hardware product developmentExperience designing and debugging digital, RF, or power circuitsExperience with board bring-up, validation, and failure analysis3+ years of hardware engineering experienceExport Control: U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or eligible refugee/asylum statusCollaborates effectively with cross-functional teamsstrong problem-solving and debugging abilitiesclear communication and documentationMotherboard design and PCB design including schematic capture, stackup, and layoutDigital, RF, and power circuit designDC/DC power supplies and power architectures
