Behaviorist

Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union seeks a dedicated and experienced Behaviorist to join our team beginning in the 2026/2027 school year! This professional plays a vital role in fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for students in grades PK-8 at our newly reconfigured elementary and middle schools in Manchester. This position is responsible for leading the development and implementation of evidence-based behavioral supports that promote student success across academic, social, and emotional domains. Working collaboratively with teachers, administrators, special educators, and families, the Behaviorist helps build staff capacity to effectively respond to a wide range of student behavioral needs. Through the use of functional behavioral assessments and data-driven decision-making, the Behaviorist identifies the underlying functions of student behavior and designs individualized, proactive intervention plans. The role emphasizes prevention, skill-building, and the use of positive behavioral interventions and supports, while integrating trauma-informed practices that recognize the impact of adverse experiences on student behavior and learning. The Behaviorist serves as both a direct service provider and a consultant, offering coaching, modeling, and professional development to staff. This position requires strong analytical skills, flexibility, and the ability to translate complex behavioral concepts into practical strategies for classroom implementation. The Behaviorist also plays an integral role in multidisciplinary teams, including IEP teams, ensuring that behavioral goals and supports are aligned with each student's educational program. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in special education program development and demonstrates expertise in evidence-based instructional practices, trauma-informed practices, and inclusive service delivery models. Strong candidates will exhibit a student-centered approach, exceptional oral and written communication skills, and the ability to build and sustain meaningful relationships with students and families.
