TAs must attend each class for the section assigned and will learn pedagogical methods and strategies by observing the instructor, and assist in the classroom and beyond under the instructor’s supervision and mentorship. Assistance in the classroom may include taking attendance, distributing class materials, collecting class materials circulating amongst and answering questions from students, etc. Assistance beyond the classroom may include answering student emails, meeting with students, offering formative feedback on assignments, grading assignments under the supervision of the instructor, etc. TAs will prepare, deliver, and reflect upon 5 individual lessons during the course of the semester, again under the instructor’s supervision and mentorship.Required QualificationsBe a current student in the Master of Arts in English Program.Preferred QualificationsPreference will be given to students who are work-study eligible (must have FAFSA on file!). Preference will be given to students with higher availability, making it easier to connect them with mentor instructors and undergraduate course sections. Preference will be given to students who have not received a previous TAship or GIship. Beyond that, all matriculated students in the MA in English program are eligible, and we will strive to hire as many as we can within our budget. TAships will be capped at 2 total semesters (which need not be completed contiguously).Background Check?
