System Administrator IT / AV & Show Control Ensure the digital backbone of all kinetic installation in the museumAre you a rare combination of IT specialist and event technician? Someone who feels just as comfortable working with VLANs and IP ranges as with DMX universes and sACN multicast? Then we are looking for you!The DRIFT Museum, an upcoming landmark cultural institution in Amsterdam, is seeking an ICT Administrator with a strong affinity for audiovisual and Show Control systems, starting in May 2026.You will be responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing complex technical environments where IT and event technology converge.Key ResponsibilitiesIT support and user servicesAct as first point of contact for museum staff for IT and technical supportEnsure smooth operation of hardware, software, user accounts, and networksResolve incidents and provide practical day-to-day supportDigital Operations & Business SystemsMaintain and support systems such as:Ticketing and visitor management platforms, including CMPOS and retail systems, including CMInternal collaboration tools and office systemsICT Infrastructure & Network ManagementOptimize and manage the museum’s IT infrastructure(servers, networks, storage, identity & access management)Maintain network architecture including:VLANs, IP planning, routing, segmentationManaged switches (L2/L3), firewallsEnsure stability and performance of network services (DHCP, DNS, NTP, etc.)Drive architectural decisions with a vendor-neutral approach, ensuring that all systems remain adaptable, maintainable, and future-proof within a rapidly evolving technical environmentWork closely with the ICT department of Van Gendt HallenAV, Show Control & OT Systems IntegrationEnsure seamless integration between IT systems and:Show Control systems (e.g. Visual Productions)Lighting networks (DMX, sACN, Art-Net)Audio-over-IP systems (Dante, AES67)Video-over-IP solutionsSupport and maintain operational technology (OT) systems, including:Building management systems (BMS)Installation-specific controllers (lighting, motion, sensors)Distributed media systemsUnderstand and manage coexistence of IT and OT networks on shared infrastructureEnsure correct handling of multicast traffic (IGMP), timing protocols (PTP), and real-time data flowsTechnical Support & TroubleshootingDiagnose and resolve issues across IT, AV, and OT domains(from “no IP connectivity” to “non-responsive lighting fixture”)Monitor system performance and proactively prevent failuresEnsure connectivity, uptime, and remote access for artworks and installationsDocument systems, configurations, IP schemes, and network diagramsSecurity & Data ManagementMaintain data security, backups, and disaster recovery systems.Ensure compliance with relevant data protection and cybersecurity standards.Monitor and manage system updates, patches, and antivirus solutions.Establish and maintain a structured data management system to ensure accurate and up-to-date storage of as-built drawings, IP schemes, and configuration documentationYour ProfileIT / NetworkingExperience with UDP, TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, multicast (IGMP is not unfamiliar), PTP, OSC, etc.Knowledge of managed switches and network segmentationBasic understanding of cybersecurity and network stabilityMuseum, AV & Event TechnologyExperience with DMX, sACN, and Art-NetFamiliar with Dante or other audio-over-IP protocolsAffinity with lighting, audio, and/or video in a professional environmentUnderstanding of Show Control workflowsGeneral CompetenciesStrong analytical skills and a passion for solving problems (not just resetting them)Strong communication skills in Dutch and English, and the ability to support non-technical users.Flexible in switching between design and hands-on executionInterest in the intersection of technology, media systems, and art installations.Independent, yet a strong team playerWhat We OfferA unique opportunity to work at the intersection of art, technology, and digital systems.A key role in supporting the technical infrastructure of one of Amsterdam’s most innovative cultural institutions.A contract of 40 hours per week for a duration of 12 months (with the possibility of extension).A salary aligned with experience and responsibilities.A competitive benefits package including holiday allowance, professional development opportunities. Collaboration with artists, engineers, and creative technologists.A dynamic environment where technology enables artistic expression and visitor experience.
