Job Description: Coding Manager - Dover, DEPosition Title:Coding ManagerFacility Name:BayHealth Hospital - Kent CampusLocation:640 South State Street, Dover, DE 19901Shift:Days, Full-TimeSalary Range:*,000.00 - *,000.00Position Type:Fully OnsiteOverviewThe Coding Manager oversees and ensures the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of medical coding across all patient types, with a particular focus on Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRGs) and other reimbursement-driven areas. This role involves managing coding operations, conducting audits, resolving coding issues, and providing education to staff and physicians.Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Management:Supervise coding processes for inpatient and outpatient services at BayHealth.Oversee Emergency Department E/M level code assignments.Monitor daily coding queues to ensure timely record processing.Quality Assurance:Perform random account reviews to verify accurate MS-DRG, APG, and diagnosis/procedure code assignments.Conduct coding audits to ensure accurate DRG assignments, documentation quality, and appropriate physician queries.Analyze statistical and narrative reports to maintain coding accuracy and compliance.Team Leadership:Manage the Health Information Management (HIM) coding staff, ensuring productivity and adherence to budget goals.Provide ongoing education to physicians and staff to improve documentation and coding outcomes.Technical Expertise:Demonstrate knowledge of payor requirements, clinical documentation, and coding standards.Collaborate with the EPIC team to evaluate and test software updates and changes.Additional Duties:Perform all other related duties as assigned within the scope of job responsibilities. QualificationsRequired:Education: Associate degree in a related field OR two years of additional experience in lieu of a degree.Certification: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).Experience: Minimum of 5 years of coding experience in an acute care hospital setting. Preferred:Education: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Health Information Technology, or a related field.Experience:10 years of coding experience.5 years of supervisory experience in an acute care hospital setting.
