Dog Trainer

All Things Pups® is Southern California’s premier dog training leader, with an existing large base of clientele in our multiple Southern California locations. All Things Pups® is seeking an experienced, highly motivated and personable dog trainer to join our team and contribute to the success in instructing and growing our current dog training programs. We are hiring talented Dog Trainers and Assistant Dog Trainers (as well as accepting volunteers and interns) who are passionate about working with dogs and people and changing lives using positive reinforcement training techniques. Our organization, which prides itself on helping owners build a stronger bond with their pup through owner education, passion and positivity, is looking for dog trainers with great people skills to immediately start taking on clients. If you are brand new to the dog world and feel you still need to learn, that is fine too! Applicant must have: 1) Excellent people and social skills. 2) Hands-on experience training and being responsible for dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds. 3) Be available on weekends and have reliable transportation. 4) Be familiar with positive reinforcement training techniques Responsibilities will include: Conducting training sessions with dogs enrolled in our board & train program. Conducting private training sessions with clients using positive reinforcement training methods Organize educational materials and keep detailed training records Meeting with clients to understand training needs, developing a training program to meet those needs and successfully implementing the plan to the satisfaction of the dog and client. Manage dogs of all breeds, sizes and temperaments Qualifications of the ideal candidate: Loves dogs - duh! ;) At least 1-year experience training animals, either in group or one-on-one format within the last 3 years Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to meet with clients to take history of behavior issues and develop a training program customized to the fit the needs of the dog and client, based on positive training methods Knowledge of canine behavior and body language Dog handling and management of large groups experience Organized record keeping and detailed reporting skills Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds Self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude Computer literacy (Word, Excel, email, etc.) Must be available to work holidays, weekends, and evening Able to work effectively independently Reliable transportation Interested applicants can apply via email with a cover letter and resume.
