Position: Software Developer Specialist Location: Austin, TX 78744 Duration: 12 Months plus Job Summary: Design, develop, and deploy engineering-focused software services, including model ingestion, automated quantity extraction, plan conformance checks, and CI/CD automation. Advance and scale AI initiatives by converting proof-of-concept (POC) solutions into production-ready web applications for transportation engineering workflows. Transform early-stage AI models (e.g., plan review automation, asset detection, digital delivery) into integrated, enterprise-wide web applications with secure and user-friendly interfaces. Ensure compliance with procurement regulations and facilitate rapid onboarding of specialized talent by leveraging PEPS. Collaborate cross-functionally to support the adoption and integration of AI/ML tools across major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI). Implement and manage DevOps practices, including CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and automation scripting (Bash, PowerShell). Develop and manage databases (SQL and NoSQL/vector), handle large-scale data, and optimize ML workflows. Lead production deployments of ML models, focusing on NLP/LLMs, time series forecasting, recommender systems, computer vision, and distributed training. Utilize MLOps tools (MLflow, Weights & Biases, Kubeflow, Airflow) for model management, tracking, and deployment. Apply advanced feature engineering and model optimization techniques (quantization, pruning, distillation). Support compliance with public sector data security and governance standards. Preferred: Leverage experience in GIS, transportation/logistics/smart city sectors, digital twinning, Google Maps Cesium API, Polygonflow Dash, and infrastructure-related computer vision. Continuously monitor, improve, and document AI/ML solutions to ensure robust, scalable, and maintainable systems.
