CLASP’s HR Team
CLASP’s HR team works closely with our program teams and key stakeholders to provide the information and support needed to deliver on our mission effectively.
As part of a broader operations group, HR collaborates across multiple areas—including finance, reporting, IT, office infrastructure, and management—to ensure smooth internal processes. Our focus is on fostering employee engagement, managing talent processes, and building a connected, high-performing workplace that empowers staff to thrive and make a meaningful impact.

About the Role
The Senior Associate will support the Director of Human Resources in executing strategic initiatives and enhancing the overall employee experience. This newly created role will oversee the day-to-day management, organization, and continuous improvement of the HR function.
Key responsibilities include: Planning and managing departmental initiatives to ensure smooth operations; Providing customer service, guidance, and follow-up to employees on policies and procedures; Managing recruitment processes to meet organizational staffing needs; Administering company-sponsored benefits and ensuring compliance; Managing and evolving HR systems to support operational efficiency.
This role is ideal for a proactive individual with a passion for driving organizational success through effective people management and operational excellence.
CLASP Competencies
Manage Cohesive Processes. You execute multiple projects while evaluating delivery performance against organizational requirements and established success indicators with minimal supervision. Collaborate with your supervisor to develop and implement strategies that achieve program goals, and oversee direct reports as needed.
Align. You advise teams and management on project performance by proposing solutions to enhance delivery and efficiency. Assess client and partner requirements to ensure deliverables are effectively aligned with evolving demands.
Sustain Service. You create and manage project timelines that align with program, operational, and client needs while ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality projects. Adjust strategies as necessary to adapt to changing operational and environmental conditions and demands.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and improve the functionality and productivity of the HR systems, particularly recruiting, onboarding, the employee Intranet, and the ADP Self-Service Portal
Establish a recruiting and interviewing program to improve candidate experience and retention of skillful employees.
Develop and maintain relationships with employment agencies, and other recruitment sources.
Supervise the training of hiring managers and staff on relevant recruiting systems and best practices
Oversee the administration of employee benefit programs including health, dental, life, disability, retirement, tuition assistance, Flexible Spending Accounts, SmartBenefits, and all leave programs.
Monitor FMLA disability and worker’s compensation claims.
Serve as a liaison with benefit account representatives.
Prepare and process visa applications; responsible for updating HRIS with visa information.
Serve as a liaison in working with immigration attorneys on H1-B visas.
Respond to general inquiries from employees concerning Human Resources policies and other personnel issues.
Govern labor legal and government reporting requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act, Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and so forth.

What You’ll Need:
8+ years of relevant HR experience
SHRM-CP or PHR is strongly preferred.
Project management experience with the ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously.
Experience with automated payroll and HRIS systems, particularly ADP Workforce Now.
Able to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity, and creativity to changing needs and situations.
Impeccable organization, you are highly detail-oriented, and someone who gets a real sense of satisfaction from producing polished work and managing smooth and orderly processes.
You can practice discretion and can maintain confidentiality as needed.

Compensation & Location
CLASP provides its employees with a highly competitive salary that is benchmarked annually with other non-profit organizations in the DC metropolitan area. CLASP also provides a comprehensive benefits package, including fully paid health insurance for individuals and competitive rates for families/dependents, unlimited leave and all federal holidays, an impressive match of employee contributions to the 403b retirement plan and a collegial office environment that supports professional development, wellness and flexible telecommuting options.
This position is full-time, and you must be already based in, or be willing to relocate to, the Washington D.C. region. The expectation for this role will be in the office at least five days a month. The salary range for this position is $71,166.00 to $100,250.00. Compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, education, and relevant skills.
