Who Are We? We're operators and builders turned founders. Between us: early Uber, founding team at Uber Eats, ninth employee at ATOMS, and leading Coupang Eats in Korea. We've taken products from zero to scale inside some of the best operating companies. Now we're building our own.Physical businesses are messy and Terra is building the systems that fix that, and ultimately make these businesses autonomous. We're early, building from real operations, and looking for our founding engineer.The RoleYou won't be implementing a spec so much as figuring out what the core should be. You'll help shape the early architecture, make the calls that set the direction, and own them as the company builds on top of your work.The questions underneath are the hard kind: when can the system commit to an answer, and when should it stop and ask? You'll wrestle with those, and you'll spend real time with operators in the field, because none of this should get built around assumptions.This is outsized impact by design. What you build in the first year becomes the foundation for the tools that let physical businesses run on autopilot.You4+ years or equivalent shipping production systems that turn images, video, or sensor streams into reliable structured data — what you've built matters more than the count.Strong in Python for the perception and data work; able to build product in TypeScript when needed.Built and debugged in the real world, with a feel for when a reading can be trusted and when it can't.Drawn to messy, unsolved problems and the ambiguity that comes with them.BonusExperience with drone or aerial robotics (Zipline, DJI, Wing) doing image or sensor-to-data work, or wearables and applied perception (Reality Labs and similar) where capture was noisy and real.On-device inference, open source, or published CV/ML research.DetailsLA or SF preferred, with the founding team working in person early.Founding equity, and a chance to work on the problem from day one on real operating businesses.
