Principal Engineer / AI Platform ArchitectNYC | HybridWe are partnering with an investment-focused organization building next-generation AI-driven products and decision tools for portfolio and investment teams. This is a highly hands-on Principal Engineer / Architect role focused on designing and building scalable financial platforms end-to-end.This is not a management-only role. The ideal person will operate as a senior individual contributor who can own architecture, write production code, and drive execution while leveraging additional engineering resources as needed.What You’ll Be DoingBuild AI-driven products and internal platforms used by portfolio managers, analysts, and investment teamsOwn systems end-to-end across backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and AI/LLM integrationsDesign and implement production-grade RAG and agent-based workflows on top of structured and unstructured financial dataBuild scalable cloud-native systems supporting portfolio analytics, investment workflows, and decision support toolsOperate in a player/coach capacity while remaining deeply hands-on technicallyWhat We’re Looking ForStrong hands-on engineering background with Python and distributed systemsExperience building production AI/LLM/RAG applications and workflowsStrong understanding of Databricks, Spark, cloud-native data platforms, and AWS environmentsExperience building scalable backend architectures, APIs, and data pipelinesUnderstanding of portfolio management, investment analytics, trading systems, or financial workflowsAbility to own products and platforms from concept through production deploymentPrior experience operating at a Principal, Staff, or Lead Engineer levelPreferred BackgroundFinancial services, hedge fund, PE/VC, asset management, or investment platform experienceExperience building systems used directly by investment or research teamsStrong ownership mentality with the ability to balance architecture and executionThis is an opportunity to build core AI-enabled products in a highly visible environment where engineering has direct impact on investment workflows and business outcomes.
