Job Title: A/V Technical and Events SupervisorWage/Hour Status: ExemptReports to: Director of TechnologyPay Grade: Admin/Prof 3Dept./School: TechnologyDate Revised: 12.18.25Work Calendar: 226 DaysPRIMARY PURPOSEOversee technical support for all events that take place in auditoriums, assist with other stage performances throughout the district as needed, and provide additional support for outside use of all district performance facilities. Facilitate event rentals, oversee student tech workers, and manage audio/visual needs for district events such as graduation, football games, convocation, etc.QUALIFICATIONSEducation/CertificationBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferredSpecial Knowledge/SkillsKnowledge of operations of an auditorium and related equipmentKnowledge of professional-level lighting, sound productions, and counterweight fly systemsKnowledge of safety in a performing arts environment with use of lifts, ladders, etc.Ability to manage and supervise students and staffAbility to interpret policy, procedures, and dataEffective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsKnowledge and ability to support event planning functions, including scheduling, coordination, logistics, and on-site executionExperienceThree to five years working in a professional or high school performing arts venueMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESProductionsMaintain calendar of events/usage for auditorium and make recommendations as to the reasonable number of major performances that can be produced, taking into account current staffing and student labor.Attend community events as assigned. Supervise technicians, performers and patrons during these events. If unable to attend, complete all necessary paperwork in advance, ensure that a capable and trained individual is present to oversee the event, and retain full responsibility for the coordination of the associated technical, logistical and custodial crews.Facilitate all district-related groups that use the auditorium and related facilities.Event PlanningPlan, coordinate, and execute district-wide events, ensuring alignment with district goals and protocols.Manage event logistics, including venue setup, audiovisual needs, and accessibility accommodations.Coordinate with internal departments, campus administrators, vendors, and community partners to ensure timely and effective event execution.Develop event timelines, checklists, and run-of-show documents to ensure smooth implementation.Monitor event budgets, process purchase requisitions, and ensure compliance with district procurement and financial guidelines.Oversee on-site event operations, including staff coordination and problem resolution as issues arise.Communicate event details clearly and professionally to participants, presenters, and stakeholders.Evaluate events post-completion and provide recommendations for improvement.Facilities Management and ResponsibilitiesTake all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, teachers, staff, lessees, equipment, materials, and facilities.Assist and provide support and technical supervision to all staff in the auditorium, including students (paid and unpaid), district employees assigned work in the auditorium, and contractors (including any employees of rental clients).Technical SupportOversee all maintenance and physical plant operations in the auditorium and work with district maintenance department to maintain the facilities at the highest quality. Input work orders into the district work order system for repairs on the building and other fixed assets.Work with campus and district personnel to provide for reasonable security and preservation of the auditorium and the wide array of capital assets housed within.With the aid of paid or non-paid students, maintain all audio, lighting, and scene shop equipment and related equipment. Ensure that all mechanical, electrical and computer systems are in top working condition. Schedule and carry out periodic cleaning and preventive maintenance on all systems.Make recommendations on capital improvements to the auditorium and related facilities as necessary. Oversee capital improvements to the auditorium.Assist with direction in the use, maintenance and inspection of all lighting and sound equipment on all stages, gyms, band and choir rooms, stadium press boxes, etc. in district schools and facilities.CommunicationMaintain a positive, professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.Work cooperatively with the campus and district administrators to achieve the overall success of the auditorium and other district stages.OtherAssist in planning and administering an annual operating budget for the auditorium and other technical equipment in the district.Prepare and publish Fine Arts Newsletter: Highlighting staff and calendar updates.District Event Planning: Home varsity football games, graduation, convocation, etc.Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, UIL rules, and board policy in the technical productions area.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESOversee hiring, training and supervision of student tech workers.WORKING CONDITIONSTools/Equipment UsedPersonal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; technical lighting and sound equipment, other theatre equipment including but not limited to counterweight fly systems, lifts, and ladders.
