Our Mission: Keep Washington Safe and Working!  Our Values: Customer Focus, One L&I, Respect, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Learning and Growth, Reliability Job Highlights The Bankruptcy Specialty Collections Revenue Agent 3 position is responsible for pursuing the interest in the collection of delinquent pre- and post-petition bankruptcy, receivership, and probate accounts to collect debts owed to the department in a professional and courteous manner. This position must follow all collection guidelines, policies, and procedures regarding the debt type until the legal proceedings are complete and/or collection remedies are exhausted. This position explains to debtors the origin of all collection debts owed to the department as well as the legal recourse if post-petition debts are not paid timely. This position is responsible for investigation and collection actions on the most complex accounts in bankruptcy status and ensures the correct application of United States Code (USC) Title 11 that are outside the normal statues and collection functions. This includes but is not limited to bankruptcy claims, unique legal challenges and law application, large businesses or cases involving high dollar volume, tax fraud, and multiple business entities. This position specifically connects to the strategic Goal #3 "Make it easy to do business with L&I" and Goal #4 "Help honest workers, businesses and providers by cracking down on the dishonest ones." The assigned duty station for this position in Tumwater, Washington.  For this position, teleworking is permitted full time after training is complete. This position is flexible/hybrid. 1 day a week is required in the Tumwater, WA (HQ) office. During the first three (3) weeks, you will be required to be in person at our Tumwater HQ office for training. Some of what you'll do: Collect money owed to the Department per Revised Codes of Washington (RCWs), Washington Administrative Codes (WACs), laws, timelines, policies and procedures.  Pursues the States interest in the collection of receivables in bankruptcy status. Work includes collecting from a receivership, assignment for the benefit of creditors, probate estates, and various bankruptcy chapters, while ensuring the automatic stay is not violated. Takes collection actions to resolve delinquent accounts. Collection actions include Notices of Assessments, bond seizures, and the filing of claims in both State and Federal court proceedings.  Manages a caseload which includes difficult, complex, or high dollar collection assignments in both Accounts Receivable Collection (ARC) and L&I Industrial Insurance System (LINIIS). Identifies, investigates, assesses, and collects receivables due to post petition bankruptcy accounts. Use effective skip tracing methods if unable to locate a customer and assets. Skip-traces, searches and accesses databases, files and on-line sites that contain personal identifying information or other confidential information regarding clients, claimants, or customers of the Department. Communicate with customers by phone, email, written correspondence, and in person to resolve delinquent accounts. Reviews Pacer and the Chapter 13 Trustee websites for updates on bankruptcy accounts. Prepares and files proof of claims in Electronic Claim Filing application or by mail with claims agent when appropriate. Researches and prepares professional documents with supporting evidence/exhibits for tax cases as needed or requested. Negotiate payment agreements with customers or their legal representatives. Monitors payment agreements and takes appropriate action if customer defaults. Understands and is familiar with the policies and procedures of other regulatory governmental agencies, liquidation procedures and requirements, and field offices. Updates agency databases such as ARC and LINIIS with the most current employer information; including hours for quarterly reports, debtors contact information, ownership structure, banking information, social security number and Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) numbers. Documents all collections actions on corresponding systems and databases while maintaining integrity via accurate and timely entries. And so much more! Required Please Note: Additional qualifying experience may substitute year-for-year for the education. Two (2) years of experience as a Revenue Agent 2. OR A Bachelor's degree involving major study in business administration, accounting, public administration, police science, economics, criminal justice, sociology, psychology, law, or other related fields. AND Two years of experience in the field of personal or business finance, tax auditing, law, law enforcement, adjustment of claims, examination and analysis of business tax records, collection of civil debts or another related field.
