Chief Estimator - Commercial Interiors, NYC | Florida - $175k - $210kYour New CompanyWe are partnered with a Manhattan based general contractor / construction management firm building an 80% mix of interior fit-out and renovation work and the other 20% core and shell construction. They operate across the following sectors; Commercial Interiors, Retail, Hospitality, Healthcare and Education with the bulk of their project work happening here in New York City!With offices in NYC and Florida this gives the successful applicant the flexibility of a snowbird life-style splitting their time.Your new roleAs a Chief Estimator the successful individual will oversee and manage the estimation process specifically for NYC commercial interiors projects valued to $50M. This role focuses on both large-scale projects, exemplified by a $50M construction management job and a $30M lump-sum project, to which this individual will take the lead, in addition to distributing amongst the team multiple white-box $2-8M jobs whist overseeing delivery. The expectation of delivering accurate and timely project bids while effectively coordinating with project managers and architects.As a Chief Construction Estimator Overseeing a Commercial Division Of 4, You Will Be Expected To Manage The Following On a Daily BasisPrepare detailed cost estimates for commercial interiors projects, ensuring alignment with project specifications and budgets.Analyze project plans and specifications, gathering essential information for projects valued to $50M.Develop and maintain robust relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, securing competitive pricing for commercial interiors work.Evaluate and review bids from subcontractors, providing clear recommendations for selection based on project scope and budget constraints.Utilize advanced estimating software and tools to generate accurate reports and presentations for management review.Conduct market research on current trends and pricing relevant to commercial interiors to ensure competitive bidding practices.Manage project bids and negotiations, providing oversight for project budgets throughout the construction process.Lead and manage a team of 4 estimators within the department, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.Train and mentor junior estimators and other staff involved in the estimation process, focusing on commercial interiors best practices.Lead succession planning and team growth projections What You'll Need To SucceedIn order to be successful as a Chief Construction Estimator, you will have 8+ years’ experience competitively bidding for commercial project work within a General Contracting | Construction Management environment weighted across interior fit-out and renovation project work. You will be comfortable bidding on projects valued at up to $50M independently and be competent across all trade packages, inclusive of MEP’s.
