Physician Scheduler - Emergency Department - Manhattan

Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Physician Scheduler - Emergency Department - Manhattan. In this role, the successful candidate will manage physician scheduling for Residents and PEM providers in the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicine. The position will create and maintain schedules in ShiftAdmin and AMION, collaborate with leadership to ensure all shifts are accurately filled each block, and process payroll transactions related to moonlighting and other non-standard provider hours. Job Responsibilities Generate and maintain schedules for 100+ providers across multiple sites using ShiftAdmin, AMION, and other tools. Ensure providers are assigned their minimum shift commitment based on open availability. Update schedules to accommodate changes as they occur. Review schedule daily to ensure accuracy. Obtain regular and ad‑hoc availability and scheduling preferences from contracted and per diem providers prior to each scheduling block. Utilize scheduling policies and procedures. Assess monthly and ongoing coverage needs. Provide coverage as needed in the absence of others on the administrative scheduling team. Distribute schedules to providers in advance of the start of the block. Complete provider information forms for all new providers. Update and maintain provider contact and schedule information in Shift Admin. Develop and maintain good working relationships with providers. Maintain spreadsheets of yearly clinical hours, shift distribution, time off, and sick calls. Accurately process payroll transactions for moonlighting and other non‑standard hours worked. Respond to inquiries from management and individual clinicians. Demonstrate flexibility in response to unexpected changes, workload shifts, emergencies, staffing needs, and scheduling requests. Apply critical thinking skills and judgment in problem‑solving. Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including telephone and email correspondence with leadership and medical staff. Maintain strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. Minimum one (1) year of complex medical staffing or patient scheduling experience. Computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel, ability to develop formulas for moderately sophisticated spreadsheets, set up routine computer procedures, resolve simple software/hardware problems, and access email, electronic calendars, and other basic office support software. Preferred Qualifications Two or more years of complex medical staffing or patient scheduling experience. Salary range for the role is $53,294.22 - $73,618.27 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentive, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
