DescriptionExperienced Medical Collector – Patient ARLocation: Fort Myers, FL (Onsite)Position OverviewThe Experienced Medical Collector – Patient AR is responsible for managing patient account balances and ensuring timely collection of patient responsibility. This role focuses on communicating directly with patients to resolve outstanding balances, verify accurate claim adjudication, and provide clear explanations of billing processes. The ideal candidate is confident in patient-facing conversations, detail-oriented, and experienced in healthcare collections and revenue cycle processes.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and work assigned Patient Responsibility aging reportsCommunicate directly with patients regarding outstanding balances and payment optionsEducate patients on billing details, including claim lifecycle and financial responsibilityEnsure insurance claims have been properly processed and balances are accurately assigned as patient responsibilityAnswer patient inquiries related to account balances and billing questionsPost patient payments, adjustments, and account updates accuratelyMaintain detailed documentation of all patient communicationsCollaborate with office staff and leadership to explain billing history when neededSort, scan, and file billing-related correspondenceRequirementsQualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum of 2+ years of experience in healthcare collections and/or medical billingStrong knowledge of patient AR and revenue cycle processesGeneral understanding of procedure and diagnosis codingExperience with Athena (Athenahealth) medical billing system preferredProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle patient financial discussions professionallyHighly organized, self-motivated, and detail-orientedAdditional RequirementsAbility to handle confidential and sensitive information in compliance with HIPAA and company policiesMust be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing EnglishWork EnvironmentThis is a fully in-office position based in Fort Myers, FLDisclaimerThis job description outlines the general nature and responsibilities of the role and is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties.
