This is a newly created role that steps in to help balance leadership within a large, high‑volume payroll tax group.You'll be leading a portion of the payroll tax team, owning multi‑state compliance, and acting as a hands‑on subject matter expert. This is not a "keep the lights on" role - they need someone who can jump in, coach others, improve processes, and help the team keep pace with growth.What this role involves: Leading and developing payroll tax specialists Overseeing federal, state, and local payroll tax filings across multiple states Helping launch payroll tax compliance in new states and localities Preventing notices and penalties through strong deadline management Partnering closely with payroll leadership and operations Using Excel and systems to improve accuracy and efficiencyWhat they're really looking for: Payroll tax leadership experience Comfort coaching, hiring, and holding teams accountable Strong Excel skills for tax reporting A "scrappy" personality - adaptable, practical, and comfortable in fast‑moving environmentsDetails worth knowing: Hybrid flexibility available after 90 days (2 days WFH) based on performance Compensation generally falls in the $85K-$110K range, depending on experience Supportive benefits and a culture centered on purpose and impactIf you've led payroll tax teams and enjoy environments where both experience and personality matter, feel free to message me directly.
