Associate Consultant
PLEASE NOTE: THIS ROLE IS BASED IN CALIFORNIASummary/ObjectiveThe Associate Consultant supports the delivery of low-voltage and electronic security design and documentation for a variety of client projects. This role requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deliverables and deadlines while working collaboratively with consultants, project managers, internal engineering teams, and clients. The Associate Consultant contributes to drafting, submittal and RFI support, specification development, and document control to help ensure projects are delivered on time and to company quality standards.Job DutiesCoordinate with consultants and project managers to support project and client deliverable milestones and deadlines, including:Document formatting and quality controlDrawing takeoffs, quantity counts, and budget supportQC/QA review of drawings and documentationSubmittal reviews (shop drawings and product data) against approved designs; document deficiencies and commentsSpecification editing and development using company templatesClient and internal communication regarding requirements, new backgrounds, and deadlinesRFI logging, review coordination, and draft responses for consultant reviewFile management, version control, and drawing distributionTransmittals and document shipments (digital and/or physical) as requiredApply technical knowledge to support project deliverables in partnership with project managementAssist with complex designs under the direction of subject matter experts and in accordance with company standards.Support subject matter experts with systems layouts and coordination with internal Engineering Services teams, contractors, and clients to meet project deadlines.Manage assigned tasks and priorities across multiple concurrent deliverables; partner with the project manager to plan work, track milestones, and communicate risks to schedule.Learn and apply company technical design standards, project phases, and drawing expectations.Maintain continuing education and attend seminars on technical, ethical, and professional topics, as applicable.Contribute to company goals and initiatives by supporting project managers and improving personal and team efficiency through continuous learning and process improvement.Maintain accurate project documentation in accordance with company document control procedures.CompetenciesProject management and task prioritizationSecurity and low-voltage systems knowledgeWritten and verbal communicationDesign and documentation fundamentalsClient service and consultationRelationship management and teamworkEthical practice and professionalismAttention to detail and quality mindsetAnalytical thinking and problem solvingRequired Education And ExperienceBachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent related experience) required; experience in low-voltage systems and/or construction preferred.Preferred Experience1–3 years of systems design and/or installation experience preferred, including experience with one or more of the following systems:O Access controlO Video surveillanceO Intrusion alarmDesign experience in electronic security and/or low-voltage systems.Strong writing skills with the ability to describe technical subjects clearly and concisely.Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, clients, and deadlines.Comfort interfacing with clients or client representatives to review requirements, discuss design approaches, and help resolve installation- and design-related issues.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position.
